or to watch one of your favourite fighter?
Have you ever travelled abroad to see a fight?

Fight fans from places like the EU & Asia have shown in the past that they will often travel thousands of miles to other countries at great expense to watch a fight. Does this kind of fanbase exist in the US?

Would you travel to Europe to support a boxer?

Thats a very valid question,i think the answer is generally No....HBO take note when two fighters who are not from America fight then surely the fight should take place in one of their home countries where the fan base will be far bigger with higher gate takings and generally more exposure

I would go anywhere to see any awesome match-up. That's being a hardcore boxing fan.
Unfortunately, expenses can be an issue.

Honestly I've been to fights live and I'm not that big on it. You don't get anywhere near as good of a view of the action as on a 50 inch TV in the comfort of your recliner with a 6 pack. The farthest I have troubled is NYC or atlantic city which are both about an hour away from me.

I live on the West Coast of the U.S. around San Francisco. I've gone about 3,000 miles to Atlantic City twice to see a fight. Once to see Holyfield and the other to see Gatti.

I go about once a year to Vegas to see a fight. But, that is only about an hour flight.

Not sure if I would go overseas or not to attend a fight. The one coming up that I might consider it for would be Hatton-Pacquiao if it were to be in the U.K. But, thankfully it appears as if it will be happening in Vegas.

Sadly the answer is no  But I don't think many other Americans would leave America in order to see a fight...one may travel across states...but leave? Not so sure...

But I think if my income allows such an expense I would travel to PR or NYC to see Cotto in a great fight! :good

A British title fight has as much atmosphere as a major title fight in America.

The crowd really lifts the Brit fighters (and probably the foreign fighters as well).

I was reading to see if someone would point out that we don't have to leave the country to travel great distances at great expense. This makes for a different mind set here. In Europe, a passport is more of a necessity than it is here. We didn't, until recently, need one for Canada either. (I don't think one was needed for Mexico either, but I'm not sure, I'm on the 'northern' boarder) That is a huge swatch of real estate. So, I'm guessing the number of people that even have passports here is quite low. Plus, currently, our 'leadership' has made some what unpopular, raising travel risks. :-( I was going to apply for one, just to have it, but you need to state a destination just to apply. Well, that and the conditions of my parole........ (joke?)

I wouldn't doubt that a great atmosphere is good for both. Just keep out the soccer fans....

I did consider this when I made the post, that's why I didn't state exclusively travel abroad but left that as only an option. I'm aware that for someone to travel from L.A. to NYC is just as big an undertaking as someone travelling from London to NYC.

Consider then the fans that travel from the UK to LV, now that's a trip and a half but many have done it in the past.

Consider doing some judging. Make a little cash and get ringside. Nothing beats being right at the side of the ring, I don't care what kind of television someone has.
