Americans: How far would you/have you travelled to see a fight

If I had the money and the time. I would go to as many boxing matchs as possible regaurdless of location.

Like I also stated, it is a different culture. If each of our states were a different country, Europe might seem a little different. It is also a matter of having lots of choices in athletes. If your favorite goes abroad and you can see second choice 500 miles away.......

My wife calls me cheap. Personally, I prefer frugal.... I wouldn't make the trip unless I could make it a two week event. If I pay the air fare, I'm going to do a lot more once I get there, not just watch a fight and come back.

i'm just waiting on the official venue so i can pull the trigger on my ticket, flight & hotel stay.

As of currently, I can't afford to go very far to support a boxer. Maybe someday if there was a fight in Europe that I badly wanted to see, I would go and spend a small vacation there.

 

Im not sure that alot of the European fans understand that there are tons of fighters in the states, tons of elite fighters. With that being said you dont normally find a fighter with a huge following. Its like alot of fighters in the UK are on the same level as the towns football teams...That isnt the case here, so we tend to travel less often to see fights. The last time that I went any great distance to see a fight was Quartey vs Delahoya.

 

You don't have to for it to be true. Like I said, most of us have never needed a passport to travel a thousand miles. We haven't had to deal with different languages, monies, etc.. when traveling great distances here. In Europe is more a necessity. Whole different mind set, but that doesn't play into the point you are trying to make, which is obvious point of the original post since it includes "Americans" in the title. I tried to give a reasonable answer, but that is obviously the point of the thread. I'm out.......

 

i got a lot of friends who stay in the uk so i would have been staying for free... i would have just been paying for the flight some food and my tickets...... i was literally all ready to go

that "different culture" thing is an reason why you dont understand why vegas is a better venue than england for pac-hatton. american or not, theres more of a reason to travel to vegas for a fight than england, let alone germany...

hatton-pac ppv#'s in america will do better than any other 2 active fighters in any weightclass. -so the jokes on you :deal

granted wembley would put more asses in seats but that doesnt mean it'll generate more $$$$$. i mean, boxing is a business, no?

vegas offers more than just "the fight" to travelers from across the world. and afterall, it is a neutral spot for both fighters & foreigners, no?

look, lets just be happy the fight was made. you bitching about spending money sounds like a personal problem..
