Americans, still blame some referee of Bute`s fights?

Seriously, if not for some pretty lazy refereeing, that would have been a TKO5. Giving a long count, and then letting Brinkley take a break after intentionally spitting out his mouthpiece, was the only reason he was still standing by round 6.

 

I understand you still don't have a watch with seconds on it.

hmmm... I'll have to see the brinkley incident, but that Andrade got robbed the first time around. Bute was out.

 

Referee counts are inconsistent by nature and Brinkley probably would have gotten up regardless of the speed on that count. He was hurting, but it wasn't so incapacitating that he couldn't continue. He should, however, have at least gotten a point deducted for spitting out his mouthpiece and buying the extra time a la Corrales.

 

In fact it was not his mouthpiece, for some reason they took time to retape Brinkley's left glove. But it's ok, the ref made sure (as in the Zuniga fight) that Brinkley got all his time and all the chance he needed to be sure their will be no drama. Bute just had to make some more rounds, he just had like 12 rounds in the last year and half.

 

Who cares? Lucian probably wanted to get a few rounds in anyway, and it was obvious he was going to win regardless. I'm a Bute fan myself, but even I thought that count against Andrade was suspect.

Bute was lucky it was the end of the bout, but Andrade wasn't robbed of anything... Bute went down, got up, was in bad shape, got the mandatory count and the bell sounded for the end of the fight. The ref was late with the count, but he had already risen to his feet within 8 or 9 seconds.
How is that beïng robbed in any book? :huh

The first Brinkley knockdown, now that was a longcount... not beïng able to get up, and the ref sitting next to him counting like a young kid thinking what comes after 4 again?!
