Americans, why aren't you in an uproar over the referee tonight?

I don't think that happens, honestly. All fans want to see, is a good, fair fight officiated by fair officials. If people think there is bias, they're right to complain. Just so you know, I've complained about British referees and judges officiating European or world title fights over here too.

If it is written into the Super 6 contract that the referee should be neutral, everyone, including Americans, should be complaining about this. Nobody benefits from a biased referee.

Is there any proof of this? Do they define what neutral is? Going by the definition of the word, there's no reason that Smoger can't be neutral. Furthermore, neither side made any objections to Smoger being the ref. Why exactly should fans waste their time crying about a highly respected official, who both camps agree upon, refereeing this fight?

Made to ensure? So the commission should be puppets of the promoters?
New Jersey has a long and proud history of hosting fights. They know what they are doing.

Cortez different approach to the way he handled Hatton and then the way he handled Hopkins was disapointing
Took Hatton's main strength away and made him sitting duck for Mayweather
So then you think "ok this cortez is not going to allow any rough stuff" wrong
He then allowed Hopkins to do whatever he wanted in fight with Calzaghe
So questions were rightly asked about Cortez inconsistency
Hope Froch gets a fair deal with Smodger

The commission does whatever the teams tell them to do. The commission are the ones who are supposed to decide gloves, ring size, referees, judges and many more things. If the teams ask for a change, they always get it.

I'm not sure about the contract, no. The first post that I made in this thread, I was asking whether it was true or not, so I'm really not sure. It could just be bull****.

I don't mind the Smoger pick, by the way. He's my favourite referee and is never biased. I just think it's wrong to bend the rules to favour Ward, no matter how good Smoger is, but hopefully that isn't the case.

If you agree that Smoger is a good ref and never biased, then how exactly does his selection favor Ward? What exactly is the argument here? We don't even know for sure what the rules say regarding the ref(even if the rules stated that the ref couldn't be from a fighter's home country, it would be invalid as in America, the commissions chose the ref and judges). Furthermore, you say Smoger is unbiased, and Froch said he's perfectly happy with Smoger being the ref.

Well following that logic, seems team Froch is just fine with Smoger because if they weren't they would have just told the commission and the request would have been granted. Do I have that right?

I'll repeat myself, Smoger is as fair as they come.

This cannot be used as an excuse.

People complaining are not as confident in Froch as they'd like to be, and are getting excuses ready.

Which is silly. This is a good fight, and a winnable one for Froch.

I do favour Ward, but based on ability. Not anything to do with unfair officiating.

And remember, there ARE neutral judges.

For me this is not about Smogers credentials, it's about the fact that there should be a neutral referee. In no other sport can I think where this would happen.
