It's hard to get quality sparring in the UK.

Traditionally, boxing gyms have been run by older men who learned their trade in decades gone by. The slick styles were never taught (outside of the Ingle gym really) so it's hard to find someone to test you.

It's slowly changing though with Ben Davison and McGuigan.

 

Jonas vs Namus isn't that high profile.

 

Just waiting for the 'he will have learned more going four rounds than blasting him out in one' narrative...

 

Plus the sheep are very nervous

 

There is just something really intimidating and unsettling about experienced boxers who sit in their dressing rooms getting their hands wrapped who are cool as a cucumber. Like it's just another day at the office.

 

Surprising to find so many people struggling with the concept of a journeyman on a boxing forum.
