It was shocking to me how the officials allowed themselves to be bullied into allowing that fight to continue. Joe had a duty to save John there, he had nothing left and was only going out to be driven into the canvas (which, in his state, could potentially have proven fatal).

That's my one knock on Joe, he too often doesn't know when his guy is done and in need of being saved from himself. Premature stoppages are a great bugbear of mine, but one must also be wary of the other extreme.
