He doesn't do 40 rounds- he manages forty jumps in the minute. Round one you jump the bar, then hit the bag, then jump the bar. Round two you hit the bag, then you jump the bar, then you hit the bag.... and so on and so forth. Average joe fitness freak should aim for 25 jumps and about three rounds. Most pro's should be scoring around the 35-40 mark and doing 6-8 rounds in preperation for a similer number of rounds. I've beaten forty a few times but it is hard work..... With regards to the height of the bar Khan is a lot taller then Ricky so his bar should be higher. I was a little suprised at the amount of weight Khan can lift- I thought it would be much more.
It's on the very low end of what is sensible. I wonder what Khan will be weighing come the fight. What does he walk around at?
Thats what i was thinking, not really much at all for max one bench, when training for 2 years, even if he is a lightweight:think
He is a 135 pound man and walks around at roughly that weight. His extra mass is manafacutred and not something that has naturally developed. Hitting a 90kg max is very impressive. Plus he has long arms for his height. He is hitting close to 200 pounds. Nice work.
Yeah your probably right about the journo, shower of arse-holes those guys. Just realised that Khan means a form of Plyometrics, dont know why they dont just say that, ****in bar bag exercise, what a **** end. Plyometrics is a sports science technique for getting speed and power, it's used mainly in athletics, and a lot of the UFC guys use similar stuff. Another thing I dont understand is how Khan knows he'll be 5% bodyfat? by what method? probably one of those dodgy calibrating machines you get out of Argos man, you would be better to think of a number and double it, that would be just as accurate. 5% is pretty low, that is what most body builders get down to before a show, so somehow I think Khan is talking pish, probably he'll be closer to 7%
If he's using free weights 90kgs is fairly reasonable for his size, but if he's using machines it aint inpressive. Anyone who knows anything about lifting will tell you free weights and machines aint the same.
5% is pretty bang on really, as said before most elite athlets woul.d be in the 5 -10% range, triathletes and endurance runners would typically be in and around 5 to 7 %, bodybuilders have been know to get lower but goin under 5% is prob a little too low and would leave the body prone to colds and flu's etc. 90 kg now as 1 rep max is fooking excellent stuff for someone weighing in a 9stone 9 lbs. thats a very high bodyweight/strength ratio. In fairness, he does look in super shape.
I'm assuming it's free weights. 90kg is an impressive number, period. Obviously free weights is harder, your smaller muscles work harder to maintain control.
I would estimate Khan's percentage body-fat as being around 8%-10%, which in itself is very low. I doubt very much that it is 5%. 5% is very very low. I agree with the posters who say that 90kg for a one-rep max on bench press is impressive, given the size of the guy. Personally I'd have been very surprised if it had been higher. Thinking about it I've never actually seen somebody with biceps that small bench press so much. Very impressive indeed. I'd be very curious to know what sort of results he gets on the Cooper test of physical fitness, i.e. how far he manages to run in 12 minutes. There is a series of tables related to age to interpret the results. I'd imagine that he'd have a very high score.
Bench press is a chest and tricep movement, biceps wouldnt even come into it,personally i think a 90kg bench is very good for somebody his size and shape whether it be on a smiths or free weight.Id be interested to see what he squats,if he shows any physical weakness its in his legs. That said,he,s an athlete not a bodybuilder.
