The count starts at 2:03. He is standing up by 1:54 and stayed down that long because he could hear and see the count and knew he had enough time to take the knee.
He stood up quickly and his corner told him to take a knee, so he went back down, had the ref got to 8 or 9 he would have stood up sooner....he stayed down as long as he did based on what the ref was counting.

It was poor from the ref, but Khan was up by 9 even off the clock, and the whole argument is ridiculous because as is quite clear he went by the ref, and if the ref had been at a higher number he would have got up sooner.

 

It's the same thing as the Tyson-Douglas fight...Tyson fans have screamed blue murder for years over that one, despite it also being utterly correctly responded to by Douglas.
