It's his manager's fault, should put some sort of twitter ban/gag order on him, even though he may speak the truth, some things are better left unsaid.

Seriously, between Khan's interviews and his twitter messages he certainly doesn't come off as the sharpest tool in the shed.

These quotes are talking about elite fighters, fighting them at the right time, he is eyeing to fight these sooner in his career than others as he feels he has the tools.

He feels he will be ready for Floyd or Manny in the near future 12-18 months.

That would actually make more sense. If he was indeed talking about greats (which more than likely was), then yes I'd definately agree with him. All the top fighters in the past have done exactly that. Nothing more cliche than an old lion, being taken out by a young lion. It's an excellent way to build exposure, and experience.

But again, these sort of statements are laughable to an extent. Why mention fighting Mayweather and Pacquiao (epecially the latter :huh) when these guys are light years ahead of you in ability. And even if you do reach their status, they'll be long retired before it even being a possibility.

Khan has a suspect chin. Obviously he'd pick feather fisted paulie for his us debut. I feel Khan may be underestimating paulie's ability to outbox him. Khan doesn't have the power hatton did 2 yrs. back. Paulie has one of the biggest hearts in the sport. No denying ricky was punishing him, although he still was capable of lasting the entire fight if not for a unnecessary stopage. Don't get me wrong, i know paulie was gettin beaten and prolly best for his health to end the fight when they did, however the fact he still wanted to fight on to the end says alot about his ticker. Not to mention the cotto war which he showed termendous durability against of of the hardest punchers in the sport. Khan does not have power close to hatton and especially cotto. Therefore I see this fight going the distance and khan better sharpen his skills if he's going win on points.

I find it hard to even believe Khan said this! First of all, ODLH fought plenty of guys in their prime - Vargas, Mosley, Trinidad & Quartey to name a few. I wouldn't say Khan has fought a prime anyone yet but Paulie will probably be the nearest to it so far. I expect Khan to win but Paulie is tough with a few skills of his own. I find it difficult to root for Khan - there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way!

No, I'd disagree with that. Khan does have the power Hatton had 2 years ago (and much more!). It's funny how most people (not necessarily you) after watching the Kotelnik fight, drew the conclusion that Khan lacks power. Even the monstrous Maidana couldn't rock the solid chinned Ukranian, does that mean he lacks power too?

The guy can bang, and will prove so in the next few fights he'll have. Whilst he won't stop Paulie, he will have enough pop in his punches to garner a little respect from him.

Darni187 above has made a good point, which I probably should have alluded to in my original post. It's very likely that Khan was referring to Oscar's earlier bouts when he was on his way up (Chavez). In which case, I think he's correct.

I have read the interview that is quoted from. And that quote there is talking directly about Manny and Floyd, the interviewer asked him if he would like to fight the winner and obviously Amir Khan said yes. Also, a thread was made about Khan saying yes and how he is a big headed fighter because the way people on this website quoted him made him look like he just burst out saying he wants to fight them. So yes the interview is from GQ Magazine or something.

I also have a bit of advice. Read the full interview, don't quote halfway through a ****ing answer and then put your own spin on it to make Amir Khan look bad. I have seen many of your posts and I don't think you're a dickhead or anything, unlike many of the people on this website, but yes, still irritating that people just won't leave Khan alone. People keep quoting him from that same interview trying to make him look bad!

My bad. I wasn't aware of other threads on this issue. Would you happen to know where I can find the full interview?

Unfortunately that is usually what happens. When Young up and comers gain experience and are finally ready to face a top guy in their division it's usually when they are not at their overall physical peak.....not to say they are NOT better...b/c in a lot of cases just b/c a fighter is past his Physical Prime it doesn't mean they are NOT still very good if not better.

Being past their physical peak only means they may not be quite as fast as they were before....maybe their reflexes has slowed, but over all their experience and craft is better than ever and that makes up for any loss of speed or reflexes.

Subscribe to GQ Magazine? lol. I have no idea, they just did an extract of the interview on a news website I was on yesterday where they told the interviewers question and gave Khans answer.

Looks like cockroach is already having an effect on this guy. I hope Paulie does the unthinkable and slaps this ***** silly for 12 rounds.

Does every fighter do this? Yes fighters have bouts which are mismatches but most don't build a career on it, however I hate to say it but British fighters have a tendancy to build **** resume's.
