judgements about fighters will always happen, i know this, but boxing fans seem to be particularly fickle and like to change their opinions more than the weather.

as a true-blooded boxing fan, i think people need to learn to 'watch this space' more instead of closing the book on fighters (or waiting with an itchy trigger finger to do so) and understand that intangible attributes like character, willpower, discipline, desire, perception and 'graduating' to the next level - which often happens after the **** hits the fan in a big way in the ring - can play a big, big part in the future of a fighter once he reaches a critical or defining point in his career.

regardless of how 'fate' plays out, 'great' fighters of any generation will always come through and overcome a setback.

the million dollar question when a talented fighter hits that 'setback' is - was that a weakness to work on or am i ****ed?

this is the best time of a fighter's career.

when you train for a fight, i am really train with total discipline, you get to a point where it isn't work anymore. whether you're doing weights, running or time inside the ring - you get to a point when you're the king.

that's the peak a trainer wants you to hit just before a fight.

when someone like amir khan lost to prescott, essentially it's exactly the same mechanics that click into motion - it's also the same mechanics (from my experience) that keep guys like jones, hopkins and many other fighters past their expiry date fighting..with a few different variables.

a lot of people don't realise how much mental strength fighters have, and believing you can overcome any challenge becomes second nature. without question.

all this **** doesn't mean amir khan won't get sparked in his next fight, though.

but some people seem to forget how wlad got his career on track after getting destroyed by corrie sanders - and that took balls and true self-belief more than a lot of people know.

people also forget how miguel cotto could easily - easily - have lost to riccardo torres by second round TKO when they fought. nobody would have complained if the referee stopped the fight.

the point is..if a fighter is good enough and has an ironclad mindset then he'll make his mark. cotto would have even if he lost to torres that night.

i've rampled a bit, but i hope i got my point across

You shouldn't write long-winded posts when you're this drunk.

Great post man! People are too quick to jump on bandwagons on this site, whether it be Amir Khan's chin, Mayweather's lack of power, and the fact that a large majority of people here are praying for a certain fighter to get KTFO rather than appreciating his wonderful skills, pity about his public ineptitude! To many people on here are keyboard nazi's, trying to murder people with their
HTML wizardry! Just enjoy the fights and the fighters, they work harder than most, and most probably a large percentage of posters here, with their half eaten bag of doritos posting abuse and "funny" quips all day long as if there is nothing else to do! Anyways, rant over! Anybody watching the Skysports card tonight? Incredible lineup.
