Wrong! He fought maidana instead a better and more deserving fighter. Khan does nothing that troubles pbf. He's a boxer puncher who wants to outbox people he doesn't have a prayer in hell of doing that to pbf and you know that. Low ring iq who doesn't make adjustments with a glass chin. Stop!

Maybe he would have figured Khan out by the mid rounds. But at least he would have had something to figure out rather than the relative cakewalk he had with Berto. And no disrespect to Berto, he put up a good fight against Floyd, but it was an easier stylistic matchup for Floyd. The fans, the boxing public wanted to see Floyd vs Khan. It could have been a classic, instead we got a less exciting, less strategy match vs Berto.

Maidana, more deserving? But Khan beat Maidana, and did so in thrilling fashion. Floyd chose Maidana mainly based on what Maidana did to AB, his LiL Bro at the time. Pimp, you know I got respect for you, and we agree on a lot in boxing, but when it comes to Floyd, we have very different views. Which is fine, but you're kidding yourself if you think that Khan wouldn't have given Floyd a tougher fight. He took the easy route, avoided Khan, then sailed off into the sunset of retirement.

There would've been nothing classic about pbf-khan unless you're talking about a classic boxing lesson by the hands of a master in pbf.:deal:

I have to admit I will miss the seeing Khan staggering around like a giraffe taking a dump, followed by a nice payout from the bookies.

Maidana beat broner for the upset of the year he was riding high and stylistically is a harder match up. Khan had no belts and looked like trash in his previous fight against a shot Diaz. I was here posting back then and posters here wanted maidana not Khan. I don't care what some casual fanboy poll said. Khan had more fans they flooded that poll. Hard-core fans like on this site wanted maidana and that was the case for all boxing forums back then.
If you think a guy who only had speed can't fight on the inside can't fight backing up no chin no adjustments leaky defense is going to trouble a complete boxer like pbf then I have to question your ability to analyze and breakdown fights. Just because he troubled canelo early doesn't mean he does it to pbf.

Sure buddy whatever you say, like when he fought Canelo, and it wasn't a close MD, but a one-sided shutout, right?

Maidana was riding high for sure. He definitely got that Floyd match by what he did to AB. Whether he was a stylistically harder matchup than Khan is debatable. Khan beat Maidana H2H, so there's that. But also the Khan fight wasn't really being talked about in 2014, Maidana at that time was the more deserving fighter with his recent form over AB. But it turned out that was pretty much smoke and mirrors as AB turned out to be not as good as he was perceived as being before he fought Maidana. Everyone was acting like AB was the next Floyd, which turned out to be completely delusional given how AB's career panned out.

So I didn't have a problem with Floyd fighting Maidana at the time instead of Khan, that made sense, he did that to avoid a rematch with Canelo, he wanted no part of Canelo after those tough 12 rounds. But really the Khan fight was talked about in 2015 after he beat Pacquiao, which was after Khan schooled Devon Alexander. The performance vs Devon Alexander was impressive wouldn't you agree and deserving of the Floyd fight. He wasn't as impressive vs Algieri as he was vs Devon Alexander, but still that's too solid wins for Khan back to back which put him into position to fight Floyd. And it was the fight that the fans wanted to see.

Got people shitting on Khan who worship at the altar of fighters who only pay lip service to taking on some of the fighters he did or who have/are or would duck them like the plague

I never said Khan would beat him. Also Floyds ko record after his injury was poor.

And people hate him. One of UK's most influential fighters. After his success at the Olympics (which ABA changed their rules to allow Amir Khan compete at 17, they were that happy with him), Amateur boxing evolved as the government started throwing money at the sport thanks to the success of Amir Khan, which is why we now get a lot more entries and medals every year. Gyms got grants and support, Team GB fighters now got sponsorships that they could actually live on etc. AJ and most Olympians know all this too. They hardly say negative stuff about Khan due to this.

Helped promote boxing in Asia and Middle East. Supports a lot of British fighters.

According to Tyson Fury, Amir Khan also spoke to Bob Arum to put in a good word for TF which is why they now work together (pretty cool)

Khan said Fury's the best fighter he's seen live the other day
