My first post concerns Amir Khan. Does anyone else agree that the hype is getting a bit silly? I give him credit for beating Malignaggi in his own back yard etc. But looking on various forums and boxing sites people are bigging him up as the next greatest thing in boxing. Paulie was chosen for him simply because he is not a puncher simple as that. In my opinion he is heading for a fall again (Like the Prescott demolition) The kid needs to prove himself by fighting the top guys. I give Amir credit for wanting to fight those guys but it's not going to happen. GBP will not match him with Alexander or Bradley any time soon. They will want to get their moneys worth out of him. In my opinion both Alexander and Bradley beat him easily, I think Ortiz would too. Some people are even talking about him fighting Mayweather etc. Anyone else think it is getting silly?

Khan has great skill, he's never going to get much credit because of his KO loss.

Khan might be slightly over hyped because of his win, but it's a huge win on American soil.

No i don't think so. Noone is saying he is already great, just that he might end up being great. The improvement in the last 18 months has been amazing. It's a completely different fighter. Just compare the footwork.

    Exactly.

Although you going to see extremes of both sides of the argument but Khan has the skill set to be a great fighter.

I agree. It's not like they're saying he's the next ali or something. It's just that he's coming off a very good win. The threads will die down by tommorow.

No. This happens after every fight. After all these are boxing websites you visit. What else are they going to discuss. Its good for our sport that young exciting prospects are coming in. I think Khan is good for boxing as it brings in audiences that were initially out of bound.

And your feeling about Khan against Ortiz/Bradley are wrong in my opinion. Khan needs to fear Devon and to some extent Maidana (one shot KO) the most. With Khan's reach, height and speed Bradley will be a tough fight but I think Khan would prevail. His chin is suspect but Bradley/Ortiz are not going to be the ones who expose it.

Amir Khan is a good fighter, but last night he beat Hot Tub Gay Malignaggi. A guy who got beat by shot-Hatton and barely beat fat Juan Diaz. Doesn't prove anything except Malignaggi sucks as much c*** as advertised.

I agree 1000%! but that seems to be the culture here on ESB! if you like a fighter you can never admit he has any flaws you have to over hype him.

Most people only think Khan is a promising talented young fighter.
Flaws he have (who doesn't have any?).

He beat a guy with no power at all and he great what a joke, If and when he fights Alexander he's going to get his head knocked off and thats a fact.

Good win for Amir. I think Paulie is very overrated though- skillful guy, but no way an A grade fighter. People are saying he got old, he even intimated this, I think he was not as good, simple as that, just like he was not as good as Cotto/ Hatton.

I like Amir, bit am fearful for him if he ever gets into a big ruck.
