    Yeah you could tell.

The thing is, rugby players need to have a solid base, plenty of beef in their legs too as well as being solid up top.

If Khan did the leg work to compliment the upper body work he was doing he'd have been at 147 not long after the Olympics.... and probably considering 154 now.

The thing is, he's not naturally thickset in the way that someone like Jamie Moore is - who's got the ideal build for a rugby player..... he's tall and slender, the 140/147 divisions suit him just fine.

Ariza has had more space in British newspapers this year than just about every other British boxer excluding Khan, Froch, DeGale and Haye.
Do we really care more about him than Barker, Murray, Brook, Burns, Macklin, Cleverly and Britain's other 20 or so champions?
    Just a thought.

    Adios.

We do care about him more, with the exception of Cleverly. ;)

I'm all for progressive thinking and I'd be aluddite if I failed to recognise the benefits of nutrition and improved knowledge of the science behind fitness.

However, I'm a little cautious about making trainers pseudo-guru-gods and I'm equally uneasy about overstating the role of the cook and the guy who spots on the weight bench.

    Fighters fight.

GAD is a clueless nice guy, the Boris Johnson of the boxing business...he knows Pacman, but has never heard of Maurice Hope, he fawns over Freddie Roach but has never heard of Freddie Hill...I'm in the British boxing business. I'm guilty as charged for knowing about Brian Schumacher, Tony Adams and Dave Charnley.
Wilfredo Benitez, Carlos Monzon, Jose Napoles...we tested him and he had no idea who they really were...why would I read anything he wrote?

    Adios.

In all fairness Buncey i think GAD would like to be writing about Barker etc but the paper would never put it in.

Solid, it was normal for Khan to say those things and not give his opponent or anyone else the idea he wasn having a poor camp. He couldn't exactly say:

"To be honest, Vale is a poor man's Ariza. I wish I was still with him, because I don't feel as sharp as I usually do"

But this is great news. Alex and Khan shared a good bond, and had a winning formula constructed. It can only benefit him in going back to him. Hope the meeting goes well.

I understand where you're coming from but at the end of the day I don't think it is a necessity to have that knowledge in order to report current events.

I'm sure Vale is technically as good as Ariza, but like someone else said, peoples opinions on nutrition differ. Roach probably wants him back eating as he was, and also I'm sure the fact he longer does conditioning work alongside Pac when they are in camp together causes less than ideal situations

Khan did look top heavy in the Mccloskey fight. His legs looked extremely thin compared to the Maidana fight.
