That's pretty much how I see it too. When your promoter is Frank Warren and he has a piece of the guy that humiliated you then beware.....

Sending him off to train with Roach should have got alarm bells ringing in everyones head....having Roach saying that Khan handled Pac-man in sparring was the next step....now this fight....all makes sense to me. This fight will be on PPV and there'll be a bunch of fools that buy it thinking Khan will win :rofl

Nice pay-packet for Khan and as you say he'll make a few quid on the domestic scene for years to come too. This reminds me of when Kirkland Laing fought Duran, the only difference will be the result.

    Sparring ain't fighting.:smoke

Yes Barrera is giving up height and youth but has plenty of +'s next to his name so it will be a good match.
He keeps himself fit outside the ring and will have had two tune-up fights come March so he should have adapted to the new weight well enough.

Yes Khan is improving but will he have improved so much and will Barrera have slipped so much? It's an interesting fight. But I'm going with Barrera. I don't think Khan can stay out of trouble for 12 rounds no matter how much he dances and lots to pot shot.

Seems like there will be a lot of UK fans making some noise for Barrera:good

The crowds are always pro-Khan, even it seems there is a huge dislike for him on the forums.

Does anyone know actually when are we going to see a press conference joined both by Khan and Barrera? I mean the Barrera camp is so quiet. I really want to see a picture of the two.

The British media is really gonna milk the fact that Barrera is the guy who beat Prince Naseem Hamed. I can just see HL reels of both Khan & Barrera with MAB schooling Naz on it over and over again.

Hmmm. I think the 'Audley Harrison Situation' may have influenced this decision. That is to say, Harrison has been forever saying he will work his way up to bigger league fighters, but unfortunately it's never happened.

So, Frank may just be thinking now, "F**k it. I can't be arsed with another one of those procastinated apprenticeships, with no guarantee of big fights/money at the end of it. Let's put him in with the big boys now. At least we'll know quicker if we're all wasting our time again".

Plus, after Audley, bless him, I'm guessing the British public has lost its appetite for prolonged apprenticeships too. It's a case of 'strike now while the iron's hot'.

ps. I honestly hope Audley get's a shot at one of the alphabet world titles before he retires. He's been through a lot of sh*t, poor *******, deep down he an all right bloke, he deserves a happy ending.

    2009 - the year of the "A-Force"!!

Roach is of the opinion that he might as well take a gamble with Khan. His chin is not going to improve so might as well stick him in with Barrera before he retires

Personally, I HOPE that Barrera K.O's Khan.

However, I think Barrera has been picked for a reason; Amir's stock will rise and people will say 'See, Khan is the real deal!' In fact, I think we will see Barrera in not great shape, clearly past his best, eating fast combinations for a few rounds before he is stopped (not knocked out, but stopped due to accumulation)

Of course, if Barrera lands one punch on Khan as he comes in trying to stop him he can win. I just think Barrera has been picked for a reason and that is because they know he is shot.

I just hope Khan gets smashed to oblivion by Barrera, as he will be ranked for beating him, and if that brings him closer to a fight with Funeka-Campbell winner...well, I think it would be fairer to be stopped by a hurtful (if not massive) former SBW then by one of the most underrated punchers in the sport today or an absolute beast in Funeka (one of the few LW's I can think of that are bigger than Prescott!!!)

However, if Khan DOES win, and does it impressively (how impressive he can be against this version of Barrera without looking like he's beating a past-it fighter I don't know) I hope he does the right thing and tries to avenge his loss to Prescott.

However, due to the contractual wranglings between Warren and ARENA-Box I doubt this fight will happen now. Shame, as it would be a spectacle either way. Khan stepping it up and outboxing Prescott whilst Prescott tries to destroy him again, or....well, Prescott destroying him again.

I actually think Khan-Prescott 2 could be a really good fight if Khan makes the adjustements. Would be a grudge match from Hell!

Barrera may well be on the slide, but I don't think he's that past it to be able to handle Khan. Barrera by stoppage.

I've put Barrera by stoppage, I'm not too sure though because I don't know his recent form too well although I had the Marquez fight close. Khan wouldn't live with him a few years ago. I suspect Warren's heard something that we haven't.
