well right now hatton is the man of the moment, he is the one in the big fight with the army of travling fans and he's the one that'll be getting the cheers khan's helping the other side traitooorrrrrrrr!
Exactly thats my reason for not liking him (I have warmed to him recently though) but there is some idiots (not boxing fans really) who plain just dont like him because of his race, these are in the minority though and I'd say most people dont like him for the reasons you stated.
i think that is part of his appeal, that he is a "good muslim" at a time when things have been tense or paranoid. he has the medal, and he is the right face in the right race, which gets him loads of publicity. i'd say the internet fans seem to have something against him because of the shifty FW matchmaking and the greed involved - having to fork out PPV each time, for a fighter who was stopped in a round. however the pay off is that to justify the PPV, fights like khan-kotelnik get made, which is a plus. many ppl will like him more when he fights tougher comp, guys his own size/bigger hopefulyl one day it will be khan v hatton. these 2 will split the fans right down the middle. there will be some khan hate, but i'm sure there will also be lots of support.
It's so nice to see our own fighter getting booed abroad in front of the world media by our own fans. Doing our country proud well done Hatton fans :happy Khan must feel so proud to be British.
does anyone else think when watching the recent interviews with khan that when he says its a 50 50 fight he is talking ****, part of me feels khan knows deep down manny is gonna be too much for ricky i can sence it in his voice, he is a terrible liar he is just saying it as he knows how popular hatton is and dont want to ruffle any more feathers
Darni187 - Correct pal. And it IS down to Racism. Its not his fault that Frank Warren is bleeding the public and using Khan as a scapegoat. Xenophobic football fans. Same nob heads who let us down before in International Competitions. Same nob heads who boo American National anthems. A lot of Hattons Fans (not all i must add) are a bunch of arseholes who know nothing about Boxing and have jumped on the whole Bandwagon due to his open love of all things Football/City. Discgrace. I was at the presser outside the town hall in Manchester for the Floyd fight and people were actually throwing things at Mayweather, what kind of boxing fans (or sports fans in general) do that to a professional sportsman.
I'm sorry to say, and I will get completely brickbatted here, that an awful lot of the hate shown towards Khan is race driven...not here amongst hard core fight fans, but out in the general populace.
hatton fans are senseless football thugs who know **** all but to start chants like WHO ARE YA WHO ARE YA to floyd mayweather jr, i mean how dumb was that also to boo the national anthem of the worlds greatest boxer of the decade is pure ignorance, no matter who you are as a boxing fan we all respect mayweather, we all hate his brash flash lifestyle and attitude but the respect is always gonna be there
Agreed. To true boxing fans, saying the hate on amir is race related would sound ridiculous to them simply because it never even crossed their minds, but we have to remember the world outside the boxing world, is totally different.
Both of you (hi3vyy and icemax) are correct. I know people, even people I consider to be close friends to me who dont like Khan because he is a muslim.
you know,u all go on about English fans boo this and English fans boo that,it not so long ago that when jennings got in the ring against cotto he was boo'ed to ****,seems some of you just like avin a go at English(british)fans but its done everywhere but us good old English(british) always get it in the neck.
Widdy - Correct but they dont boo their own like they did last night and also have you heard of the saying "2 wrongs dont make a right"
I think that's true. Amongst boxing fans there's not hatred for Khan because of his race. It's because of the hype and **** talking he USED TO do. However, for the casual fan race probably is an issue. On the flip side, you have Asians who support Khan only because he is "one of us".
hmm it's a shame isn't it. It's just the way the media portrays muslims which is the root cause of the problem. A minority of muslims are a problem just like any other race/religion. Anyway that's how it is, no point dwelling on it. As long you know your open minded and can come to your own decisions rather than following then your ok.
