Which is why you can NEVER rely/trust anyone in life. Not your best friend, not your brother, not your son. You might be getting on with your own life, trying to be the best that you can be. Your mate makes it big one day and says "ey man, leave that dead out job. You're my friend. You don't need to do that ****. I'll take care of you. We can travel the world together. You'll never have to work a day in your life again".

So you go. Life is great. You get to enjoy the same lifestyle. Drink at the best bars, drive the best cars, fly around in private jets, get to bang his leftover women etc. In the back of your mind you've got this nagging feeling that you're a leech. A freeloader. A bum. "Nah mate, don't feel like that. That's what friends are for bro. If we can't help our friends then who can we help? relax and just enjoy the life". Okay, you're reassured.

One day he might turn around and say "You know what man. You are a bum aren't you? You weren't **** without me. I did this for you. Just kidding bro".

What he's saying is true. You know he's only HALF joking. There's a reason he said it. One day he might even say it without even bothering to pretend he's joking. What's your answer gonna be? Can you look him in the eyes and tell him it's not true? Can you say to him you're your own man?

Now don't get me wrong. If my friend won the lottery and wanted to give me a few million quid, would I turn it down? Haaaaaaaail no, but if if you invest so much in someone else's life and don't try to be your own man, you might just get ****ed over in the end.
