It's largely Khan's style (bending forward, always jumping in to combo) that makes him easily timeable. I really wouldn't say its his shin. He got hit with a much more looping shot at the end of a flat footed Garcia shot and got up three times to take more. So does Khan have a better chin than Pac by these peoples definition?

All his shots were right on the chin and clean. This last Diaz fight really got me thinking though. His knockdown was combined with a balance issue but when he got hurt in the later fight, it makes me wonder whether his ability to take a punch has gone down

It's not a position unique to Britain, and you can apply it equally to plenty of non-American fighters. The drawbacks of Khan's profile are more than outweighed by the benefits it has given him over his career.

Comparing him to Murray is a bit of a stretch. Khan mainly fights outside the UK now, and while plenty of people follow his fights it's hardly water cooler stuff. Murray spends a few weeks every year with the burden created not only by his own performance, but the shortcomings of the likes of Henman, Rusedski, Bates, Lloyd etc. The only legitimate comparison in boxing would be the wait for a British World Heavyweight champion between Fitz and Lewis. A British men's singles winner at Wimbledon is virtually a national obsession; very few people give a **** about the IBF light-welterweight title.

I think people over-complicate the Khan situation. Rarely have I seen a fighter where his obvious shortcomings are constantly clouded by smokescreens. He's a gifted athlete with exceptional speed, but an unreliable chin, low ring IQ and below average physical strength. You can obviously analyse it in a lot more technical detail, but that's essentially the crux of the matter and the reasons why his potential is limited.
