Khan lost his IBF and WBO belts in a controversial split decision to home fighter Peterson in Washington after he was deducted two points for pushing.

Khan's team have asked the IBF, WBO and the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission to investigate.

They want the decision overturned or an immediate rematch.
Khan's camp had until 10 days after the fight to lodge a formal complaint against the verdict.

After the fight, they said were unhappy with the "home cooking" from referee Joseph Cooper.

They also questioned the judging, and claimed judge George Hill's scorecard from the fight was changed after the bout from a 10-10 score to a 10-8 score in favour of Peterson in round seven, before the scorecard in question "disappeared".

They have offered Peterson a "seven figure sum" for an immediate rematch in Los Angeles, but he has yet to return their calls.

However, speaking to Sky Sports News in the aftermath of the fight, Peterson has urged Khan to accept the original decision, while saying he is keen for a rematch to be held in 2012.

"Let it go," he said. "He lost the fight, he might get a rematch and he'll get a chance to prove himself.

"Yes, I definitely want a rematch.

"I look forward to doing everything in my power inside and outside of the ring to represent the IBF and WBA as the new champion."

The IBF had initially said they saw no grounds for immediate rerun of the fight.

"We found no discrepancies that would affect the outcome or the result of the fight," IBF championships chairman Lindsay Tucker said.

Khan had Peterson on the canvas twice in the opening round - although only one was officially counted - and his two-point penalty proved costly after judges scored the fight 113-112, 113-112, 110-115 in favour of the local fighter.

"We decided not to order an immediate rematch on the basis of the fact that in the rules, if the referee feels that it's a foul, then that's his call to take a point," added Tucker. "He did warn Khan several times before he actually took the first point."

Khan's camp are understood to be pursuing separate appeals with the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission and the WBA regarding the performance of the referee and ambiguities over the judges' scoring.

Although it is rare to have decisions overturned, WBC light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins has been successful in having October's fight against Chad Dawson changed from a loss to a technical draw.

he could of used this loss as an chance to make more fans like froch but instead he's losing fans. and never mind that froch was totally outclassed and khan was robbed, i'm just saying in how you dealt with the aftermath and adverisity.

There is no way the Con Artist will beat Lamont in the rematch, I'm sure of it. He is so OBSESSED with doing whatever he can to reverse the decision, bitching, crying on talk shows, award shows....He is so full of shame, embarassment and disgrace that his mind will be solely on the first fight that he won't be able to focus on the 2nd one....Peterson is going to do it easier this time.

A clear indication that he was believing in his own hype, and that he basically thought he couldn't be beaten by Peterson.

no one doubts lennox lewis is a better fighter than rahman, and mcall. those two koed lewis. amir khan should just worry about doing better in the rematch and leave no doubts he's a better fighter instead of worrying about this ****. he's been granted a rematch by peterson and he should just work on avenging the loss. it's not like peterson is ducking khan. that's his biggest payday out there.

There is a difference between the fights.
Froch lost a one sided fight in which he was rendered completely ineffective. Froch lost plain and simple, whats there to complain about.
Khan's fight was very entertaining. Khan lost a controversial decision, the referee was on Khan's case throughout the fight, ultimately deciding the fight instead of the judges.

Peterson gonna RUIN him in the rematch. Instead of working on his inside game and defense he is filing appeals.

Go get him Lamont, but this time Stop him!

Someone needs to slap some sense into this fool. Absolutely lost the run of himself. I have no doubt that in his mind, he's at the same level as Mayweather and Pacquiao and that's he's the next PPV king.

i did say the manner they lost is very different. but i'm saying in the aftermath khan could handle this with more class. sometimes in defeat or a robbery you can gain more fans and respect. lenox lewis gained a lot more respect and fans after the holyfield fight the first time, and that was a clear robbery. eslara landy completely outclassed paul williams and has every right to do what khans doing here but he's not and we the boxing fans know what really happened in these fights and who won.
