If Joe had gone to the Olympics and won a medal, either bronze, silver or gold, he'd have not had that problem. Hysterically enough, they didn't want him because of Enzo being his trainer.

Then right after the Olympics, after Byrd won the silver, he fights Calzaghe and gets stopped. If that's an indicator of how he could have faired in the Olympics then I think a medal would have been inevitable and he'd have then been backed by superior promotion.

But yes, it makes my blood boil anytime when inferior fighters get more than amazing fighters. It'd be like Koki Kameda being given a 10 million HBO contract and anything he wants over Cristian Mijares for some stupid novelty sell reason, that'd likely make a lot of people's blood boil.

 

And the Reid win also, Reid was a pretty decent name in England with some backing of his own. But in the UK English fans tend to favour English fighters, note the obsession with Ricky Hatton until he got starched.

Joe also took out a good Euro level popular English fighter in Woodhall and messed up Sheika in 5 right after Sheika won over Glen Johnson, but he gets no credit for those types of wins really, then your Jermain Taylor's of the world get credit for fighting Kassim Ouma of all people and Raul Marquez.

 

It was but by then Warren had moved to SKY and Joe was still fighting in Wales.Its mostly Warren and Joes fault.If he`d never fought Lacy no one would be talking about Joe now.He was more than content to make easy defense on his home turf as he doenst like travelling and has a fear of flying.

Thats nonsense. The obsession with Ricky is because of the way Warren marketted him from the beginning. Hatton was routinely filling the M.E.N with casual football fans who would turn up and not even know who he was fighting.He could have taken a **** in the ring it wouldnt have made any diffrence. There simply there to have a good time and make some noise nothing more or less.There not boxing fans.BUT they made Frank and Ricky a ton of money.

 

But he was easier to market than a Welsh fighter to that crowd.

To be fair, Khan is only interested in Nate Campbell because he holds the WBO title.

 

Nate would flatten him FACT. Khan isnt even close to that kind of class yet and Nate was nothing more than a very worthy contender who had the right game plan going into the Diaz fight. Nate can punch and he`d turn Khans lights out. The liklyhood of Nate holding all them titles in the future is quite slim and im pretty sure Fwank is banking on Nate giving up the WBO whilst Khan contests the interim title.

 

khan has yet to graduate from fighting domestic level. he has'nt even faced thaxton yet, so he would'nt be ready for diaz or campbell by years end. if willie limon hurt him, these guys would put him in world of pain.

 

Totally agree. Khan simply isnt ready yet for world class despite Warrens influence on the WBO. Khan can win a world title but he needs way more seasoning yet.

 

I hate to sound like I'm riding the Nate Campbell bandwagon but there really isn't any conceivable way that Khan would topple Nate other than one big lucky punch.

Another big differance between Hatton and JC is that Hatton is media friendly coming over well when interviewd, JC on the other hand has mostly come over has a bit of an arrogant ****. I love Calzaghe the fighter but he has no personality, unlike his dad.

Khan is a serious hype job and I would be supporting him in his venture to greatness but for the same reasons you have mentioned I do not think he will make it.

We have a decent domestic lightweight division in Britain and although the guys on Khans record had good win loss ratio's they were the non dangerous guys, I would have had an whole lot more faith in him if he had faced the likes of Gary Reid and Lee Meager who have a decent punch.

I can not see how he can hope to go for the world belts without fighting Romanov or Thaxton. He has the tools to beat both but the fights would give us a better idea of how far he can actually go.

Nate would destroy Khan and Peterson would show him up too.

 

Khan doesnt have the kind of power to really put Nate away. Nates got a decent chin. His KO loss to Robbie Peden was his own fault although he got owned again in the rematch. But Peden has always been a big puncher.

Iv always like Nate and have watched his career for sometime.His certainly overachieved with his win over Diaz but the reality is he wont hold onto that title for too long.He doesnt really put them together and tends to throw 1 punch at a time. The kid is tremendously talented but he just doesnt have the neccesary ingredients to be consistent.His career since losing to Casamayor in a controversial decision has always been inconsistent.
