People, at the moment, are regarding Matthysse as a top 140 player that deserves a shot at the WBC title, and one that would be a very credible Khan opponent. So if Morales was to beat someone like that, shouldn’t his claim as a WBC champion be a legit one, and Khan’s decision to get a shot at him be more warranted? I mean, Morales will, after all, have proven himself to be not as shot as we thought he was. Khan settling for second best (first being Bradley – who didn’t want to fight him), isn’t a cherry pick like you’re trying to make out. It’s simply settling for what’s available in order to get that WBC strap.

And in regards to McCloskey, he was simply a stay-busy fight for his eventual unification showdown with Bradley. So of course he was cherry-picked. He was a stay-busy opponent!

Fighting Paul McClosky wasnt cherrypicking ???!!! YOU HAVE TO BE ****ING SHITTING ME :deal can you not remember the whole host of fighters making themselves available for that fight ??!! , Katsidis emerging as my favourite at that time , and can you remember what the fighters who were actually sent offers by GBP said ?? , they said get to **** !!! , why ?? , because Khan wanted a 6 figure payday and had to accomodate that by picking a bum !!! IN ESSENCE , that is the very essence of high reward no risk , or in other terms " cherry picking "

Ive got to be honest , id rather see Khan not fight at all than line his pockets with cheep opponents and mug off the boxing world by fighting drivvel like McCloskey .

Sorry thats just the way i see it ..................

Do you think i dont know that :huh :yikes

Ok buddy i gotta be honest i could'nt finish your thread , your throwing info at me like i dont know what Khan's current run of opponents is , and that i have no clue who Lamont Peterson is , so lets cut out that nonesense out right now !!!

Paul McCloskey was picked by team Khan / GBP because he was always going to accept a lower purse than a credible opponent , **** all to do with his paper record or European title !!! , once the list was whittled down he was the best out of the bunch of fighters who was going to accept GB / Khan's shitty demands , to get there star his $1M , ****in pathetic :deal

The better fighters from the original shortlist laughed themselves out of the game , and that was that , we got Khan McCloskey , a hand picked Euro / Domestic level fighter , fighting what some people see as the best LWW in the world , im not going to sit in my armchair and critisise Khan for negotiating a great deal with no risk as a business man , but as a fan of the sport , a fan who likes a fighter to back up what he's saying about aspirations / ability / attitude ill say again pathetic .

Now we have the next opponent debacle , ok the reason i mentioned Zavek and Berto is because providing either of them come through there fight unscathed , i make either of these men (from the options) the best available opponent at that time , and bear in mind Amir is the one talking about Mayweather Jr @147 :-( , once again Zavek IBF , and Berto former WBC and potential new IBF would test Khan @147 pre Floyd

I understand the lad wants a unification fight @140 and cannot take that away from him , Bradley is out so a WBA / IBF / WBO unification fight is off , delete WBO and insert WBC into that equation and thats what we will have if he fights Morales / Matthyse (providing the IBF dont strip him) , then you have Guerrero and Maidana , like you say both speak for themselves .

If , and its a big if , Morales beats Matthyse , on a very serious note what does that say for Matthyse (not that im expecting that at all but ......) ?? , does it suggest he's the type of pre Mayweather preperation or even a credible opponent ?? , that aside im expecting Matthyse to beat Morales and nothing he does in the Morales fight will have me convinced he's a better fighter than Guerrero , Zavek or Berto

As for Peterson , i dont see GB / TR coming to a deal here so im writing that off , but hey , apparently there working on a truce , even so , Peterson is still not as good as the above mentioned 3 IMHO , he is a light puncher so maybe GB will select him :D

Is this the same Erik Morales that was beaten by David Diaz

Look mate , ive just got a bee in my bonnet that Khan is saying one thing and doing another , he had a lineup of some good credible fights at the time of P Mc , and we got a fight of that calibre when Amir , the world champion should of been in the ring with Katsidis , or somebody of note like him ............

It is what it is , i suppose ive made my feelings clear

    And?

Surely one of the best examples of a stout chin as there has ever been.

    -Technically inept

    -Naturally smaller

    -Coming off a loss

-Years of fights have taken their toll

-Very little Pro Boxing experience in terms of numbers.

-In with arguably most dangerous Welter of all time, smashes the **** out of him and yet the Thai finishes on his feet. Taking unbelievable punishment.

Takes many flush shots, gets dropped very heavily, and gets back up like a Terminator.

No shame in this performance whatsoever, it showed some of his attributes off and is unwinnable for most, let alone abysmal southpaw sluggers like Muangsurin, who had no0thing for except for two almost unnatural attributes: Punch resistance an heavy hands.

See how he decided to absorb Hearns' punches and come back? He did that in every fight, relying on his engine to pulverise his opponent late after they'd wasted everything laying his brain cells to waste.

Obviously, wasn't going to work with Tommy ;-)

It would work with Amir :hey

Over at the Scene...Khan calls Bradley a *****!

He also claims JMM was offered the July 23rd date but turned it down and said Ellerbe spoke to him after fight and said ''let's make this happen!''. He says he's a bigger draw then Ortiz.

Khan's well and truly not happy!

You'd rather see a boxer fight twice a year rather than 3, I'm sorry that just not how a true boxing fan thinks! If you wanted it your way the top boxers would be even less active then they are now, that's just a pathetic thing to say.

Mccloskey was undefeated , Euro champ and earned his shot... A credible opponent.

I could easily accuse Marquez for cherry picking for his fight against Likar Ramos , but I'm not because you have to consider the circumstance.

McCloskey was an easy option and it is quite clear, Khan wanted that fight to keep in shape and to be honest he picked a credible opponent, you can't accuse someone of cherry picking based on one decision, if anything Khan is going to attempt to fight the best in his division. On a resume of 27 fights his choice of opponents are quite impressive.

His best wins are Maidana Judah & Kotelnik , id hardly call that earth shattering , granted he's a young lad and he's got time , but already as a world champion he's fought dross like Salita and McCloskey , and now there is talk of him fighting Morales , lets not forget Barrera in there too (@135) .

Look i may of come across like a hater here and im not , im a fan of Khan's abilities , i like the lad , ive watched him 3 times live ringside , but my beef is with his selection of opponents , because thats exactly what it is , its a careful selection , i have to give Khan some slack on the Bradley situation , it looks clear now that Bradley wants nothing of Khan which is not Amir's fault , but the Morales talk is just plain ****in stupid , and ill repeat what ive said a few times already , " bearing in mind the level of opponent he has available , if he signs to fight Morales ITS CHERRYPICKING ", its irrelevant what Morales does to Matthyse or the other way round , Matthyse is capable but not a world champion , Morales is a former " great " Featherweight now shot to **** and Khan is near to his prime if not in it !!! , i will not support a fight with Morales or quite frankly a fight with anyone but the very best opponent out there , he's a world champion now , the free passes are all out !!!

Sidenote , expect Soto's name to pop up too , a light hitting smaller man , sounds ideal for Khan in GB's eyes , also now operating @140 and a fairly recent GB acquisition

Ah yeah I guess you just want to see him fight once a year only against the best fighters... If he can't fight Bradley or Mayweather then he should wait a few more months maybe years till he can get the fight on:think
