I'm not familiar with Pakistani's, neither do I know squat about their culture so I was merely asking you a question. I was not making a statement brother.

The rascists are likely to be a minority. Ive seen plenty of rascist stuff on Youtube for all sorts of things and aimed at all sorts of people... just ignorant fools really.

I think Kahn is alright. All the hype around him is media related mainly. He is the Olympic champion after all and very talented. Also the British press is known to exaggerate with the old build em knock em down formula which is great for making headlines when they fail.

As for his confident or cocky nature, most boxers are this way. In this day and age its important for fighters to be mentally strong and that includes thinking you can beat the world, even if you cant. That is why there are upsets because fighters believe they can win because there are a lot of occasions where an underdog wins. No big deal really.

As for the article, the Eubank part shows he hasnt really grasped why he was unpopular and for me shows little knowledge of the game. He had his fans but he was an arrogant ***** and was always putting down boxing... the same sport he was making millions from. There was also the viewpoint that he was a complete tool which he showed on many occasions.

I personally don't like him in the beginning since he was hyped up too much and at some point he was starting to believe it and was saying he'd beat guys like Pacquiao, Marquez, Hatton, and some other top contenders. However, I can't deny that some people out there hate Khan simply because of his Pakistani heritage.

You asked if khan has more fans just because he is Asain or more haters just because is Asain? I'd say yes to both questions.

Any boxer from a niche/immigrant community will attract fans from his own background who arent really massive fans of the sport. I dont think there's anything wrong with that myself. If you're a successful polish american/italian american/jewish/whatever boxer you'll have plenty of american fans with the same background at your fight, kinda like pride in one of their own doing well, which is totally understandable. Not all of them will be massive boxing fans, but some might end up becoming more interested in the sport on a wider level as a result of following their guy.

I dont know if you are british, but if not you would need to be to understand the specific nature of anti-muslim, anti-asian sentiment in this country. Its different from racism in the USA, which for all its problems in the area of racism and prejudice has a more integrated and balanced society than the UK. You talk about asian not really being into boxing but going to Khan fights. That happens, of course. But there are also guys who aint into boxing either, but dislike Khan and like to see him lose, just because of the colour of his skin. Ive never seen such a level of animosity towards a young british fighter before Khan.

He's young, very talented and seems to me to be a nice enough kid. Ok, the quality of his opponents earlier on his career wasnt great, but thats the case for most fighters these days. Blame his promoter, not Khan. Same goes for him being on PPV. He wouldnt be there unless there were enough people willing to hand over the money, and in any case if you dont want to pay its easy enough to watch online for free. He isnt cocky or arrogant, certainly compared to almost any other boxer you could name. Every boxer of even moderate ability will say they have what it takes to win world titles. Some will be right, some wrong. He's made out to be some super-arrogant trash talker by the haters, and that couldnt be further from the truth.

Most of those Khan fans are not hardcore Boxing fans, they are johnny come latelys/casual fans that have been following Khan's progress, because he was exposed to them/ the general public for a long time, whilst he was on terrestrial televion.

Hardcore Boxing fans dont care about his race or nationality. They care about watching great fights/good fighters.

Its like saying the Hatton fans that booed the national anthem are reflective of the population of Britain.

Hatton fans are football/soccer hooligans with no class, that act that way because they get away with it at football grounds. Most of them are not Boxing fans, they are Hatton fans or casual fans.

Just to let you know, I didnt read all of that post, I just wanted to comment on Kahn being hated.

I have never disliked or liked Kahn but I like him a little more now because he beat Barrera (honesty is the best policy)
Im not interested in skin colour or any other kind of racism.

    Brit's short for Britons.

    Paki's short for Pakistani's ..

never quite got why it's deemed so offensive.

I agree with this article! People are fooling themselves if race and nationalism is not a part of boxing. Look how P.R. back Cotto and how some Mexican fans you still back Margocheater. Racism is not hating someone because of his her skin colour it is also not admiring them for their skill and accomplishments the same as you would of some one of your same race. Racism is a fact in society, as individuals we may not go out and burn crosses on lawns but we all, including myself, think and treat other races differently. I am not saying it is right, it is what it is.

Exactly, I don't know why he got that offended.

If something, I'm not aware of it and he totally flipped.

    Must be the steroids.

Just wondered how it gained so much weight in terms of stigma, I mean, it's only short for the countries actual name.

The word "paki" has been used in a derogratory manner for the longest time. It does not have the same effect as the N word. For most people its not just an abbreviation.

Thank you for making that clear brother.

I didn't know that, I call people paki's over here that are and they never seemed to take great offense to it so if someone got offended I'll apologize.. I wasn't aware.

At least you gave me an explanation without jumping on me like a silverback.
