From what my friends told me they have heard 'paki this and muslim' that at fights. They went to the Barerra fight and pople were saying things like 'Hope Barerra knocks the cocky paki out'.

The word Paki is used for offense. Plenty of Indian people can tell you they have been called 'paki' plenty of times. I know people of Arab heritage who have even been called 'paki'

If you're from Sweden then fair enough as long as you now realise the connections the word has. i supose its an easy mistake to make, but in the UK only knuckledragging racist scumbags would use the word.

There is no way that Khan is on his way to becoming the greatest British boxer ever. Britain has had some legendary fighters such as Lewis, Cooper, Eubank, Hamed etc... Khan has no chin and will probably get knocked out again as soon as he fights someone decent.

    Eubank? Cooper?!

Khan will be greater than both. Hell, he's probably greater than Cooper already. It's unlikely he'll be the greatest ever, but still...

Neither have I but people take offence at it.

People of Pakistani descent are meant to be called "Asians" according to the Brittish chattering classes, people from other parts of Asia are meant to be called other things (e.g. Orientals). According to them if you don't keep up with the latest terminology that is racism. It doesn't matter what sentiments you are expressing, the words you use define your racist stature. For example if you say "I love Pakis" that, to some, is an example of racial hatred towards Asians because you used the word Paki.

When I lived in England some people who drank in the same pub as me nicknamed me "Haggis", if I had acted offended most other Scottish people I know would have taken the **** about me being so sensitive - and rightly so. However if you judge others by those standards and say I can't be arsed with people being so sensitive about the word Paki then, again, that is racism.

It is just a game now accusing people of racism. There is no logic behind it at all. Not in Britain at least.

Im a Pakistani Christian..yes,a Christian from Pakistan!! Let me tell you guys this...Pakistani muslims are the most racist people in the world, they hate everybody, especially blacks. They hate other Pakistanis if they are anything other than Sunni Muslim. I had to smile when I read this article, without a doubt written by a man who is definietely playing the race card. Im in the north of England and can mix freely in my community because of my colour, background and language skills.I know what the real story is on the street,I can promise you. Don't let them silence you..Khan is ****,in their hearts they know he's ****..fact:oops: he's a Muslims what makes them come out in his defence.

Just to clarify some term definitions here...disliking someone because of their stupid choice of religion isn't racism. :nod

it's not the word itself, it's the motive behind it. Everybody knows as it being as a racist remark and it will upset many people, therefore should be avoided.

Paki is quivalent to *****, ****** etc etc.

Oh, and just to clarify something else: I don't care if old-world maps refer to the area as "Asia Minor" - Middle Eastern people aren't Asian. They're Middle Eastern.

Personally speaking, I'm a big fan of watching nearly any material on boxing to be found on Youtube. Out of all that material, I can honestly state that the most concentrated racist bile easily belongs to Amir Khan videos.

Amir Khan is a victim of racism. Plain and simple. Not everybody, but a fair number of people hate amir because of his skin colour. Some people admit it, some come out with lame reasons i.e. he's too arrogant etc LOL Amir Khan arrogant? cocky? Have you not heard other fighters talk? Atleast Amir Khan has the young age to blame. Amir is the most down to earth dude around and i have met him personally.

As a british pakistani living in the UK, i can confidently say that the majority of amir khan haters are racist one way or another. For the people who say "but how do you explain the support for Lennox Lewis" etc etc and i have two answers to that:

    1. British Pakistanis generally are hated alot more than any other race in Britain in this day and age.

    2. Times have changed dramatically since the hamed and lennox etc days, people have changed therefore making a comparison between Amir Khan and the older generation fighters let alone the race differences is a not a valid comparison and would not be accurate.

Anyway, it is what it is, as Amir has said many times, it motivates him even further when people hate and boo him, so please continue and watch Amir progress.

Racism has been a part of boxing since it began. There have always been idiots out there who haven't liked fighters because of the color of their skin or their national origin and there will continue to be. If you want to stop the criticism then throw more jabs, keep your chin tucked in, and don't get bounced off the mat!
