Don't think so at all. Naseem Hamed was British but originally Arab and was loved and backed by Brits to this day as arrogant as he was.

Nig ger is censored, which is why people spell it wrongly when they write it, Paki isn't used a lot outside Britain so most posters don't take offence at it.

I hope that helps lessen your feelings of persecution and injustice.

I just looked on the Khan-Barrera comments and had to go to the 7th page, going back a week to find any racist comments, though ONE comment was removed by the author since then. Not really endemic is it?

In America we never refer to Middle Eastern people as Asian. Why you do it in Europe is beyond me. It's a different part of the world. Asia, the way we understand it in Correctland (aka the USA) includes China and everything due east/southeast of it IMO. :D

Think it's the people surrounding Khan that bring the hate really. All the "KHANZ ARMY" and "KHAN HE DO IT?!?!" nonsense looks OKAY at first but soon it starts to get boring. Also he has been rating far too high way too soon by certain people and him believing it, I remember talks about him being interested in a 4 rounder with Mayweather Jr. in 2006 to being interested in a fight with Hatton in 2007 and so on. All these don't make it look good, Naseem might have talked trash but he brought entertainment in the bring like no one before him with shocking KO power, not to forget that when he talked down on fighters it were mostly future opponents or scheduled opponents.

I can only speak as a U.S. fan, but I don't think the American fans that know Khan dislike him due to race. Rather, he gets a lot of crap for talking a big game before he's been able to back it up yet. That, and hating his at-times irrational fans who do the exact same thing on his behalf.

Just going by what I've personally seen -- I never saw Khan/Barrera on YT, so I can't speak for that particular case. I DO think it would be difficult to find another boxer on YT that is racially abused in the comments as much as Khan is, however.

I remember typing "Jermaine Taylor" into a youtube search and it comming back with a video called "black hall of shame" which showed black fighters loosing to white ones (with Taylor loosing to Pavlik as one of them). This was disgraceful according to the videos author, I can also remember seeing Hispanics getting abuse on Khan videos comments, it just seems to depend what day you look at it.

I used to post a lot of fights on youtube (but none of Khan,) and you get sent an e-mail of any comment that's posted on any of them. Apart from and as well as the racist comments you would see the same people slagging every white or every black fighter on every video they watched. It goes on with all races.

Obviously you will get racists giving Khan abuse and some of them will dress it up as hating for a different reason, it would be more unusual if you didn't than if you did but most people on boxing forums or who go to the fights will have stronger boxing related reasons for their opinions on a boxer. Personally, I get sick of every discussion on Khan turning into a race debate (I know this started out as one so I'm not starting any pish about it). The race issue could put people off Khan purely for that reason, if they are boxing fans they would rather the fights don't turn into sociology lectures.

oooh ,Apparently he is 'hated' because he got mildly booed twice and took some flak on youtube. Doesnt get any worse than that does it?

I have been up close to team Khan heading over to vegas. The people on the plane were acting like there were in the presence of royalty. The staff were making him bowls of ice cream. If thats being "hated" id like a piece of that. Ooh hate me ,hate me!!!

I did not read the article or any of this thread. Nor do I care much about Khan.

However, I have observed some hideously racist comments directed at him on the interwebs.

    Racism is alive and well.

you are a dumb****, when white people use words like ****** and paki, they say it to be offensive, sometimes people say it as a joke, but trust me most times racist works like that are meant to be racist

forget the word its how you use it and what you mean when you say it, when people call amir khan paki do you reckon they are just having a laugh!?!?

you need to open your eyes and ears more and think about it, you can't just say paki aint a offensive word and that people are being sensitive

and what the **** is haggis?!? whatever it is your a haggis!!
