I do think Khan should be working with someone else in addition to working with Freddie. Especially at the times when Roach is most busy and has to travel a lot. I know it's different but Peter Quillin works with another trainer but also gets advise and game plans from Freddie. So he's still getting the benefit of Freddie's great boxing eyes and not leaving himself out in the cold totally relying on him. Freddie just has too many commitments. Plus physically it's probabily starting to take it's toll. He should perhaps be stepping into an advisor or consultant roll with some of his fighters and let someone else do the hands on things.

It dosnt matter who trains Khan, the truth is, he's too thick and stupid to learn new things or fight a different way, Ive seen kids box with more intelligence. Gallagher is a good choice though, he teaches fighters to defend with there faces and this gives me hope that Khan will be violently knocked out.

Well Roach has not really taught him how to fight on the Inside, so maybe seeing as it is Joes specialism, it will do him so good?

At least Joe Gallacher knows about inside fighting!!!! If not defence

Not a terrible idea, but stop-start-stop-start all over the place is not great for consistency.

  9. I don't think a period with Gallagher would do him any harm.

If it wasn't for everyone involved in boxing having such huge egos, short secondments with other trainers could help practically every fighter that doesn't have the perfect trainer exclusively.

Roach fighters generally aren't great inside, and Khan is particularly bad, he'll get plenty of good sparring there, so why not?

The problem Khan has is that he'll always be #2 at the Wildcard, so if Pac wants to train in the Phillipines he'll get his way, and rightly so if we're being honest.

Yes, agree with this. I would like to see more fighters working with different trainers. Have one main trainer, but use other trainers to pick up certain things and use them on a consultancy basis.

Having said that, I doubt Khan will be doing much technical stuff, or sparring with Gallagher. Will probably just be a couple of weeks whipping him into condition in preparation for the heavier stuff in the Philippines.

Surely the first two weeks with Gallagher are just to start getting back into shape before the proper work starts with Roach?

He's probably already in the UK so rather than going to the US early and then flying to the Philippines and then going back to LA it's better to start some work here and then fly straight to the Philippines.

Doesn't help Khan when his fights are scheduled so close to Manny's. Not the first time either.

Just what I was thinking ^^^^

Will he be sparring THAT early in camp? Doubt it. As he says in the tweet, he'll be training with Joe to just start getting in shape. That's all. Not actually sure whether he'll gain much other than a bit of advice here and there.

All this traveling is not ideal but Khan has done this type of thing a few times so should not effect him too much.

2 weeks starting with Joe is not a bad idea, a few fresh tips would be welcome, Khan can do with some tips on fighting on the inside for sure.
