Live fight fan who attended the fight:

I was at the fight and I was going for Peterson, but Khan getting those 2 points deducted was complete BS. I have never seen points deducted for pushing. The ref was completely biased and he wasn't even doing a good job with breaking up the hugs, headlocks, etc... Ref should never be allowed to ref again.

How Khan must improve

Defence Khan’s weakness is his defence. At the moment, he attacks, then in defence lies on the ropes with his guard up, or back-pedals. At times he showed against Peterson how he can turn his opponent and get out of trouble. Needs to do it more.

Avoid brawling Although Khan is an exciting fighter and engaging with his opponent is part of his natural make-up, he is no brawler. He needs to be more circumspect with certain opponents, and outbox them, because he has the skills.

Don’t believe the hype Khan is very talented, brave, and brilliant at times, and still has a great future at the highest level. But he is still a work in progress. Talk of super-fights is premature. Beat the men in front of him first.

Don't be too brave Khan’s displays of machismo in the ring only counted against him. Taking shots to show how tough you are, to break another fighter’s will, can be part of the armoury. But Khan needs to be street smart, and get hit at little as possible.

Don't foul At the moment, part of Khan’s defence – and sometimes attack – is pushing his opponent down, or away. George Foreman did it early in his career. Khan needs to parry, block and move, and counter more.
