“The one guy Morales wants – he’s begging us for him – is Marcos Maidana,” Schaefer said. “The WBA is going to elevate Amir Khan to ‘Super Champion.’ That fight (Morales-Maidana) would be for the (‘Regular’) WBA title.
    :patsch

All these titles are making a mockery of the sport...

****.. As long as Champion Emeritus still can make some sense to me, this is ridiculous and a mockery to the sport indeed. They shoud also make it "Junior Super Champion", "Regular Super Champion", "Super Super Champion" etc to multiply this pointless crap some more.

A so called Super Champion that's fighting a bum in April. Don't be fooled by the record and fancy website, aside from his mates, no-one on this side of the Atlantic knows who Paul McCloskey is.

    Super Chump more like.

It's a stay busy homecoming fight against the European champion before the guy fights the recognised number 1 fighter in the division in July. I don't really see anything wrong with the fight - it's not as if he's planning to spend his career fighting at this level, nor is it being dressed up as anything it's not.

Considering that I hate them and think they're lower than the **** that comes out of turds who have diarrhea, you'd think it would be impossible for me to be negatively surprised by the WBA, but no, I am.

Nothing wrong with McCloskey fight. He´s legitimate top 10 contender, undefeated and European Champion. The fight is more justifiable than for example Pac vs Marga or many other title fights in the recent history. Of course we´re all waiting for Khan vs Bradley, but McCloskey fight is still a good one.

we have to make up reasons why fights are important these days.

I wish they could make one champion in each division and whoever is champion has the glory. That way boxers would want to be champion.

I honestly believe we have just as much talent as the older glory days, it just that with so many belts and weight classes, its spread out way to much.

Imagine if we only had a lightweight champ, then a weterweight, then a middleweight.

    It would be incredible.

Mccloskey fight is fine. He's an undefeated european champ. Its the fact that Khan has been promoted to super champ so that moralas can fight for regular champ.

So no we have Diamond Belts, Super Champs and Regular Champs. This could lead to 15 champions in each weight classes.

A lot of European fans hadn't heard of André Ward before the Super Six, but that does not mean that we assumed he's a bum. Just because a fighter builds their career within their region does not mean that they are bums. Khan should win this and look good doing it, but for a voluntary this is a solid fight with an element of danger for Khan if he does not concentrate. It's a way better fight than a lot of champions take as a voluntary following a hard fight and with a major unification fight coming up next.
