there hasn't been a new khan thread in at least 4 days so...

Khan has now made number 10 in the WBC rankings.

Jon Thaxton is number 29 in the WBC rankings, whilst their youth champ John Murray is only at number 35. :huh

Meanwhile, the WBO have moved Khan up to number 7 although this is more expected...i'm just suprised to see the WBC rank Khan 19 places above Thaxton, unless they are ranking him on his potential rather than his achievements which would be a little stupid. :bart

Khans winning and beating people with pretty records. All the while other fighters are losing and thus demoting themself.

Unfortunately record with no real substance can get high rankings as long as they are undefeated.

Provided he is very carefully matched he will end up with a big title shot. All Frank Warren has to do is keep him away from anybody with a half decent punch. That's why I don't believe he will be allowed anywhere near Jon Thaxton, that's got disaster written all over it.
His success will continue up to the point he gets hit with a decent shot.

IS David Diaz that much of a bigger risk than Thaxton? It would be a better risk reward type fight to take on a weak WBC belt holder like David Diaz than go after Thaxton.

David Diaz is garbage in terms of world class. He's just strong and heavy handed but I don't rate him.

True comment about Diaz. He'd probably be the way to go.

He is strong and heavy handed... Amir does not need that the moment. I would go the Rees route; in due course.

Diaz couldn't even beat Morales clearly.

i think diaz is far more dangerous than thaxton. jono has never beaten anyone in the class of even a shot morales.

diaz may not be as skilful as the other champs but he's solid and would catch khan out if they fought any time in the next 2 years

Obviously not now. Khans still number ten. I'm thinking if he gets by Earl and Thaxton, maybe a European shot and then onto Diaz.

I think leave the Rees route alone. Don't put yourself at 140 if thats not his size yet. Even if he got by Rees, he'd be left to deal with pain in the arses like Kotelnik. He doesn't need those guys now. Tough guys like Diaz but bigger.

Khan needs to be exposed to many more styles.

Cotto and Floyd did very well in being exposed to nearly every type of boxer before they were champs. Admittingly low level boxers but they gained alot of experience.

Warren won't put Khan against Rees for the same reason he didn't put Hatton against Witter, he wan't his invstments to be kept as far away from each other as possible.

Khan beating Earl , Thaxton and Romanov ? . I reckon he'd beat Earl and I suppose there is the chance he could take out Thaxton before he is taken out(wouldn't bet on it though) but to then beat Romanov aswell ?........never gonna happen .
