Fights in the AM tend to get stopped WAY faster than they would in the PROS. I don't put too much on this. However Khan WAS stopped in the Pros, which is the sport I love. A sport where 3 judges have to press the button at the same to time to score a point is not a sport, it's a video game.
:rofl:rofl:rofl I would love to know what MAB is honestly thinking about Khan leading up to this fight. You know he's just itching to get a couple of nice shots in on AK and see how the beard holds up.
You do realize that they were wearing 10oz gloves when they fought as amateur,s right? It's only two ounces more than in the pros.
It's not just that; it's also the fact that there aren't "KOs" per se, in the amateurs. Not that guys don't get KTFO'd, cause they do, but the way it's listed is as an RSC and then sometimes another letter after that; either RSCO, RSCH, RSCB, RSCI. If Diaz got an H it means he was stopped and given a suspension from head punches, KO'd, in pro terms. But if not it could have been anything; if it was an RSCO it just means he was down by 20 points at some point in the first 3 rounds.
Well it must be remembered that Khan was a sensational amateur, you don't win an Olympic silver medal at 17 even in the modern day Olympics unless you're very good.Lets face it we all know Khans whiskers are probably going to be his downfall, but lets not underate his attributes,he has blinding handspeed, good power, and as he has proved by getting up off the canvas to win a few times a genuine fighting heart.
think about it..khan has had a good upbringing from a decent home (hardly any street fighting)..he fought in the amatuers which is all about hitting and not getting hit..then he turned pro and had 17 easy fights (still taken hardly any shots to the chin) he didn't require no defence because everybody he fought wern't good enough to hit him. In his gym..everyone he sparred were intimidated because they was facing "amir khan" and never really tested him.. whereas fighters with great chins i.e margarito, morales etc ususlly have had a tough childhood which involved lots of bare knuckle fighting so taking punches with gloves seem weak to them. Obviously thats not the case with all fighters as some fighters are just generally born with a great chin. But i believe amir khan getting quality sparring (getting hit on chin), along with forming a decent defence i.e taking punches on gloves, slipping etc will develop him into a one of the best fighters in the world..as he has all the attributes to be one.
Amatuers dont mean much in regards to the pros ask Pinto and Abduallev about that in regards to Miguel Cotto or even JT and Kelly Pavlik.
There are several differences in professional and amateur boxing. But we are still talking boxing here mate  :nut atsch Swimming and soccer are two completely different sports.
Because the 10-9 must system worked out so great last night, right? There's never any controversy with that.
