i dont think its recklessness but its to do with his lack of intangibles, if you ask me mike dallas jr could probably pull one over khan, and jr is no more then a stepping stone fighter himself. I think khan would have to pull something off big to reach the heights he was once at, but i dont think he has the skills or the chin to do it. i hope he proves me wrong

I think Khan does have it in his locker to stick to a gameplan and fight 12 rounds with it as he proved vs Kotelnik, Paulie, Zab, is just lately he lost control in the ring in my view and does his own thing, sets his own pace, there are many factors in and out of the ring which can count for this.

Dare I say if Khan fought Garcia with caution and boxed him from range, it was a striaght forward UD for Khan, with Garcia holding a punchers chance at best, but the way Khan fought Garcia it was only a matter of time till he landed a money shot, which he did and it was game over from then.

in the fights you'v mentioned it wasn't so much khan sticking to a gameplan that won him those fights but faults in the other opponents make up
garcia didn't go into a defensive shell and give up like zab and didn't follow khan around the ring without throwing punches like kotelnik and more importantly threw more stronger shots then malinaggi, This has been khans biggest problem when he's presented with a fighter who isn't intimidated by his handspeed or power like peterson, maidana,Garcia and prescott he's in a life or death kind of fight. I dont know how they can change that, you talk about his height and reach it isn't even that impressive. his boxing skills all rotate around his speed, and he use's his speed to outwork opponents not outbox them, its a point scoring method he has. and when you throw as many punches as he does he's always going to leave himself open for the counter.

I still disagree, Khan was over aggressive and paid the price, Khan striaght punches should never end up in the middle of the ring with a hooker, note U.S fighters I think are taylor made style to counter from range, for hookers to land you must come into range after throwing, hookers also don't use their full reach which also Khan should use to his advantage.

How should of Khan fought Garcia? everything behind his jab fully extended, double or triple it up again fully extended, again why fully extended? Hookers need to get close to get off, so even if Garcia slips the jab step in to counter Khan at already a safe distance moves off left or to the right resets range, starts off with the jab again, Garcia is so basic all Khan had to do was lead with jab, catch him sometimes with the right when Garcia would come in and move away, risk free fighting, Khan lightening fast on the night he should used his speed to his advantage, instead he was playing the punchers game, that's a risky game as he found out.

Khan instead was throwing hard 1 ,2 's not working off the jab and staying to long in range.

Look back at the fight, garcia adjusted to khans speed and began cutting off the ring, he was blocking allot of khans shots in round 2 and in the beginning of 3 and began landing his own shots, the only mistake khan made was not tying garcia up in the 4th round and buying himself some recovery time that was just a stupid move, garcia was closing the gap on khan.

    I agree.

The people around him don't have his best interests at heart - other than the quick buck.

You still not getting my point, Khan was fighting the wrong fight for me in the first place.

Its cool you think this, I know for a fact thats the worst I have seen Khan fight in the sense he was too agressive and flat footed throwing too many power shots.

The fights where Amir has stuck to a gameplan and boxed really well were all against fighters who fight in a passive way, none of them really pressed Khan and was willing to trade with him and force him onto backfoot. Kotelnik tried it late on but it was natural to him. Maidana obviously did have success but couldn't finish his dinner so to speak but he showed the first signs of Khan not being able to stick the gameplan when put under pressure. As soon as Khan got pushed back he lost his stance and was flying around the ring and got caught by a huge right hand.

Garcia beat Khan in a lot easier fashion compared to Peterson because he timed Khan's advances, it was very veteran like of Garcia. Not many fighters feel the other guy out they just rush and tear..

I was going to make another thread but i'll ask it in here to lessen the Khan traffic..

Do you think Amir should of stayed with Frank instead of going to GBP? and do you think he regrets the move?..

Reason i ask this is because i was watching a youtube vid and the guy basically raised this point and said Khan is now 4-2 (Peterson obviously is debated) with GBP. Would he of been better building on the Kotelnik and Salita victories. Ie. Khan would of had the Calzaghe treatment from Frank and had a few lesser fights to grow into the role?.

Not my opinion just interesting thoughts..

Because Khan played into Garcia's hands by fighting fighting that way, I dont rate Garcia that highly he is just a solid fighter alround with decent timing, I feel Khan could made the fight must easier and Garcia could not done much about it would of just tried to walk Khan down because of Khan outboxing him from outside. Garcia moves slow around the ring and is not really a pressure fighter and his defence coming forwards is poor, note how much a drunk Khan in the 4th was catching him with some good shot plus also making Garcia miss even in that state.

A good timer like Garcia would feed off toe to toe exchanges, and Khan played into his hands.

Your question about staying with ******, maybe 1 or 2 more fights wont of done him too much harm, I guess this is what can happen when you fight the best in the division and Khan always in exciting fights and will hopefully learn from this defeat. I only rate this Garcia fight as Khan's 2nd overall loss and first with GBP, I thought even with points deducted Khan just beat Peterson, and without the points deduction Khan won clear UD with Peterson only winning 3 or 4 rounds max, plus this month that result will get turned into a N.C and thats only fair after all the drugs saga.

One question remains, Peterson's has a hearing date with Nevada commission this month, if goes to plan they will ban him for a period, what will then IBF do with the 140 title??

    Khan was the last holder???

Will it go vacant?? or will Khan get to fight for it in his next fight??
