The first two rounds Khan won, those first two rounds Khan was clipped with a fair few shots. Garcia knew how to fight Khan bro seriously from early vids he said he will time Khan. Khan shoots in with punches all the time, he's got no inbuilt defence it's attack, then defend he can't multi task so to speak.

Garcia was actually doing some nice things such as half stepping out of range and allowing Khan to shoot in. He basically waited on Khan. If he danced around the ring i think he'd of still had trouble i mean Peterson isn't exactly the fastest around the ring nor is Maidana they both forced Khan onto the retreat and both had success.

Let Garcia and Morales fight for it along with the other 2 belts.
Khan is not in the mix anymore. He is out

Khan's not a difficult fighter to beat when you strip away the handspeed, the key is be relaxed against him and time your punches as Garcia did, when Khan go's into a flurry, punch with him, you will take a few yourself but Khan's not a puncher, so is a risk worth taking.

Yep there's no maze with the kid, force him to think and your winning the fight mentally.

I remember Sawaar (sorry for misspelling) thread where he asked about a gameplan for Garcia. Many just put pressure Khan (says a lot really..), but there was a few who said time him. Garcia was very calm, bar the odd wild swing what he did brilliantly was to not give Khan success early. Lost two rounds yes but unlike others wasn't floored or beaten up. He gained control of centre ring and slowly worked way into fight. The punch was no fluke, that was spoken about prior to the fight.

I just feel Garcia being a timed counter puncher, Khan needed to be carefull not to over shoot extend thats why in an earlier post I was on about Khan working solely behind his jab and keep at range, not jump in with hard 1,2's.

That would help for sure, he needs to become a defensive fighter and have that mindset, protect the chin because, it is dodgy, and fight in bursts, use his speed to his advantage, Khan to his credit has a lot of heart but that dosen't always work in his favour, its sad but true, he can and will get drawn into a fight, that's when the gameplan go's out the window.

It should in theory be simple but all that has 1 major obstacle in the way and that is that you would have to change Amir's whole mindset, that's not a easy job.

    Wicked :good

True the hardest part for the new trainer is to change his mindset which will not be a easy task.

Interesting what Garcia said there, that Roach gave the gameplan away. And yes I remember Roach saying that. In addition to that sloppy as hell sparring video where Khan shows off all his flaws, how much fodder did they need to give Team Garcia??

I'm not a fan of talking tactics in public and this is an example of why. As well as releasing too much footage from camp. Keep your opponent guessing as to what is coming. The idea should be to give them as little as possible to work from. A few major errors from Roach, and maybe a little over confident like we dont respect this guy, we'll tell him how we are going to beat him and even ifhe knows what we are gonna do, he cant stop it. Backfired.

Whilst Khan does have defensive faults, I actually think the Maidana fight made him believe that he can get involved in a war and win..after all Maidana is / was considered the biggest puncher in the division, I think that went to his head.

Having a fight strategy / plan or not Khan has shown in his last few fights he is incapabale of sticking to a plan and gets all bravado.

Definately needs to improve defnsively but needs to learn to play to his strenghts more aswell.

    Yep:

    --------------------------------------------
    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415631

Skills: "Punch with him [....] What Garcia has to do is punch with Khan, Who leaves many openings to counters [....] He's not a puzzle you've just got to gauge the speed and be brave and bold."

Myself: "Time Khan rushing in. We all know Khan can be predictable with his attacks, and we all know how wide he leaves himself open. Garcia, being a pretty handy counterpuncher with decent pop, should attempt to punch with Khan as he comes in. He musn’t wait for him [Khan] to throw his last punch and then react. He has to trade his combinations with him. If he doesn’t knock him down or out, he’ll at least hurt him.."
    --------------------------------------------

A lot of us were lulled into the belief that pressure is the best (and only) way to beat Khan. It's certainly handy if you're just a brawler with nothing else going for you. But if you're patient and relaxed enough, you can have a lot of success in countering him. Garcia ended up doing what I feared Judah would do last year, and as a result has just exposed him further. Bad news for Khan. That 'how to beat Khan' check list is growing longer and longer. His prospective opponents sitting at home are chopping at the bite, and if Khan remains ignorant to this, he'll be finished for good.

Sure but that being said, knowing how he loves getting involvedl at least keep the other camp guessing right up until they get in the ring. All they would have to go on, was previous fights. Even if Khan was gonna bring the same thing, the other camp still wouldn't know if he had made adjustments in the gym, and what kind of strategy he would bring. That would mean they would have to work Khan out during the fight, but instead Garcia's team would have been drilling their plan hard in camp knowing exactly what Khan would bring in to the fight. Roach just made team Garcia's work so damn easy!!

From the moment team Khan lost the psychological war, they had already lost the fight.
