Amir Khan on Brook quitting: "you'd rather get knocked out"

Walk on, Amir, when have you ever fought on with your orbital busted?

 

It's a violent sport, and I think about a lot of the great fighters of yesteryear who if they were faced in a similar situation, they probably would've trucked through and kept going. Now easier said than done, but a lot of the greats I can see fighting through an injury like that (albeit a potentially career ending one.)

I'm not criticizing Brook in any way, I think he's a much better fighter than I initially gave him credit for, but if he does return I think he'll have a hard time maintaining confidence in his abilities if he's faced in a similarly precarious situation in the future. It's a fight or flight type of response, and some of the great fighters would gamble on their health if they were put in a similar situation. Imagine if he fought on through with that orbital issue and actually beat Spence, that's the stuff legends are made of.

It's easy to say that in my situation, you can't fault a guy for looking out for his overall health and well-being.

 

Brook has ended up in a sad and sorry state and has only got himself to blame. He was offered a career high payday against Khan which was in excess of the 5 mil he got for the GGG fight and perceived it to be 30% of what he thought the fight would generate but would not accept B side status. Even if the fight had happened and he koed Khan as most people thought the fact remained that with his abysmal resume of only ever beating one mediocre world class fighter and Khan being the bigger name he was 100% the B side against Khan. He then fights Spence for less money, gets his ass handed to him and his head all busted up for a second time and should retire before he is permanently maimed. If you read all my posts on this subject you will see that it has panned out almost exactly as I predicted. I even called him getting a career ending eye injury although I had the wrong eye. I'll bet if he had it all over again he would jump right onto the Khan fight. If he does fight Khan now he will have to settle for less money because he is now damaged goods and the fight won't generate as much as before. Khan should also keep him at 147.

 

Khan is an expert on getting knocked out.................

 

I reckon Brook could still KO Khan with two broken eyes.

Look at vitali klitchkp v Lennox. His face was hanging off but his jaw wouldn't budge.

At least when you are glass jawed like Khan a gust of wind and your night is over for a nice early bath.

God knows what would have happened of brook didn't take a knee .
