It's a pretty safe assumtion to make since Khan's been acting like his chin is made of wet toilet paper ever since the Prescott debacle, backpedaling like a mother****er against a super careful fighter will mediocre pop like Kotelnik, and hit and holding relentlessly against a guy like Malignaggi. The people that are predicting a Khan KO against Maidana are seriously out to lunch. He's going to employ major spoiling tactics in order to try and survive, there will be no chance for him to knock out Maidana. In the end though it won't matter because Khan's going to taste the canvas before the fight's half way finished.
I see Khan boxing circles around Maidana and getting the clear UD. However, there will be moments of anxiety when Maidana gets close or even inside...
Exactly. Khan has been fighting really conservative since the prescott fight. And he'll likely fight even more conservative against maidana. That's a good thing as far as giving himself the best chance to win. Even if Khan does get tagged hard, which he probably will at some point...He's been preparing hard for it vs great sparring partners, a great trainer, and a great strength and conditioning coach. And when he does get tagged hard, he's not going to be an idiot and trade with maidana like ortiz. He's going to go on his bike, and outpoint maidana. He has the endurance, stamina, mental strength/toughness, will, talent, and smarts to do this with ease. Especially at this point in his career, he knows how much he has riding on this fight. The Khan who was rocked in some of his european fights including prescott was a completely different khan physically/mentally as ive said...And more importantly, stylistically. He used to just go balls to the wall, aggressive because he thought he could walk through any opponent. And the prescott loss was arguably the best possible thing that could've happened for his career because he got a reality check that he wasn't invincible.
Khan ate 17 Pacquiao haymakers in sparring. He's more than ready for Maidana. "I took Manny's best shots." :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
How do you know that he is "10x stronger" than he used to be? Moreover, since when did Khan morph into the second coming of Sweet Pea-- aka some sort of defensive wizard? Khan is indisputably superior in terms of hand speed and all-around ring craft, but it is not as if his defense is impentratable. If Maidana can find the mark against Ortiz, what makes you so sure he will be shut out against Khan? Is Khan that much of a better defensive fighter than Victor? And if he's not, what makes you think he can withstand the punches??
I'm going with Khan by stoppage, it could be a Salita type scenario where he is just too sharp and fast for Maidana to cope with early and with the wba 3 knockdown rule in effect this could end in the early rounds, either that or Khan will jab his head off for 8 or 9 rounds before the ref stops it.
Unlike PW, Khan knows how to use his height and reach. Also, he's got that stinging jab and a fast combination that will make Maidana think twice before barreling in there. Maidana is a KO artist for sure but he's also easy to hit. A lot of people under estimate Khan's power. IMO, Khan will win by UD or TKO.
I'm obviously exaggerating for effect by saying he's "10x stronger". But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how much Khan has developed physically/mentally/stylistically since Roach/Ariza have taken over. And I'm talking more about what's taken place with his career outside the ring..Something a lot of people tend to overlook when analyzing fights I feel like. And Ortiz fought like an idiot. That's why he lost. He had a bad training camp. He had a horrible strategy. He had bad trainers/strength and conditioning. He has awful mental game. However, Khan is excellent in all of these areas, and on top of that he's far more talented than victor ortiz. If Khan came in trying to just walk through maidana, ya....Maidana would have a decent shot to win this. BUT KHAN WONT DO THAT. He won't give Maidana an opportunity to win. That's how I see it. I think Maidana is 'live'. But that it's much closer to 10-15% chance of winning than close to 50% which esb seem to believe as a whole.
So are you trying to insinuate that a lack of strength and or conditioning led to Victor's demise against Maidana?? :rofl Those shots he was absorbing had nothing to do it with it, eh? Who says that Khan is "far more" talented than Ortiz?? I rate him higher, yes, but not by the leaps and bounds you evidently do. Sure, Victor traded too frequently with Maidana for his own good. However, to suggest he simply tried to "walk through" Maidana is ridiculous. Finally, you avoided my question: Maidana landed on Ortiz. Do you believe that Khan's "hands glued to his chin" defense makes him impervious to Maidana's offense to the extent that his jaw won't be tested even once?? What do you suspect happens when Maidana finds the mark??
