Amir Khan retired in the next 24 months??

theres plenty of tricks warren & sky can employ to keep these shows ppv. the most obvious one is to have an american and british show for each ppv. and then also stack up the khan card with quality british/european/wbo level undercard.

but tbh, i think his display will have won him some more hardcore fans who will be more than willing to pay to watch him fight whoever the opponent is. i'd be interested to know how many more people have registered with his fan sites since the win.

 

the only reason Khan would retire before 30 is if he couldnt be a contender anymore. he wouldnt even be at his peak untill his late 20's

 

I disagree.

I think of all the possible styles out there Diaz has about the worst one for Khan, a come forward, educted pressure fighter who never lets up and packs decent power as well as being able to take a good shot.......Khan Kyrptonite in my book.

Diaz isn't a massive puncher, but some of the shots he caught Marquez with early doors would have left Khan unconsious, and despite his newfound "ringcraft" Khan is not as illusive as JMM.

Khan's shoeshine punches wouldn't be able to keep Diaz off him.

 

I think Jeff has an interesting point. If Khan picks up a couple of L's and the hype slows down, then i think we will be looking back to this thread.

As much as i like watching Khan, the next few fight for him are crucial and i really believe his career is still in the balance.

 

I dont remember but in one interview he said he will retire at age of 28 so thr still atleast 6 yrs left.

 

:goodNo-one is disputing that, mate. The general consensus is 'well done, Amir' at the moment, though. He deserves the accolades for the performance against Kotelnik but he is still very much a work in progress, IMO.

 

Definitely, i went to the fight and i was very impressed with how Khan fought. Heopfully the talk of leaving Warren doesn't throw up too much controversy and he can settle on a testing opponent for his next fight.

 

A couple defences (maybe against Madaina which i really think he could win long as his chin and temple isnt there for the taking), Then probably vacating a title to fight for another one (WBO maybe), then i think he'll suffer a loss sometime during that. Not sure.

I agree that he sounded a bit like ''ive done it, i made it and became a world champ'' and sounded like hes done what he wanted to do, but then he also said im gonna soak this out and ''set myself new ambitions'', i believe he'll have a short career but he wont lose motivation throughout cus as long as hes the champ and is given the right fights at the right time, he'll have the ambition to train. he'll probably be retired by 25.

 

Yep, I've also read something similar in which he was stating that he has had to revise his planned mid 20's retirement, due to realising that he is very much a 'work in progress', and wouldn't hit his peak till at least his mid 20's.

David Diaz? He's a tough little ******* when you consider what he took and what Hatton and ODLH didn't- no-one seems to notice that, though.
