disgusting and disgraceful to the sport. period. he said "he wants to leave how he came in, not brain damaged"...

what a piece of **** thing to say. as a boxer and as a boxing fan im disgusted by his comments and feel as though this is part of the reason why boxing is dying and thats because fighters are borderline *****. They are so affected by current status of LEGENDS like muhammad ali and other fighters who LAID THEIR LIFE ON THE LINE FOR LEGACY AND TO BE REMEMBERED that they dont wanna be "brain damaged" or have "cauliflowered ears" etc...

how is an aspiring young boxer supposed to feel seeing amir khan say something like that? hes a ***** and any other fighter who is afraid of brain damage shouldnt fight, period. and if anyone agrees with khan or thinks that fighters should be retired by 28 because of long term health reasons is a ****** too and are part of the problem and not the solution to boxing. Fighters used to FIGHT and they had reasons mostly economical.

hes a disgrace to the sport.

A lot of boxers say these kind of things. Calzaghe said he would be retired by the time he was 30. Hopkins promised his mother he would retire by the time he was 40 yet hes still out there now at 45.

When Amir Khan reaches 28 he will realise he does not have any other way to make the same kind of money so he will continue fighting like the guys already mentioned.

Why are these british boxers always talking retirement so soon when they just barely reached the world elite level.

If he retires at 28 and is happy with his career more power to him.
I remember when Oscar De La Hoya was starting his career, and him saying he was planing on retiring young as well. He didn't so we will see with Khan.

Yep, DLH was supposed to retire at 25 to become an architect.

The idea is to get out early, but when the big $$$ start rolling in it's kind of hard to do.

    Every boxer says it.

Most boxers claim an age they want to retire at, and most rarely do. It means nothing. I dont blame any of these guys for wanting to leave while still a healthy individual, it's their life, their health, their future. They have paid the dues to do whatever the hell they want. If they feel comfortable with what they have accomplished in boxing at that stage, and want to retire, more power to them. History will decide the consequences of their actions, but where they place in boxing history is not the be all end all of life.

Possibly the most pathetic post I have ever read on here. So he is a disgrace to the sport by saying he wants to retire after being a pro for a decade because it is a tough sport and too many fighters carry on to a point where it damages them?

And now he is a *****. How many pro fights have you had? He took up boxing, fought as a 17 year old kid in the Olympics and after getting brutally KOd by Prescott he came straight out and gave a lengthy interview making very few excuses, faced the music and the humiliation and then got right back in the ring and vowed to prove his critics wrong.

I'm not even a Khan fan, but for some muppet behind a keyboard to call a professional fighter who has got straight back in there after being destroyed, and who has picked himself up off the canvas in other fights to stop his opponent a "*****" is utterly pathetic.

And to paint a comment about getting out of the game before he takes too much damage as being a "piece of **** thing to say" shows how utterly naive or stupid you are.

It IS a dangerous sport, it DOES lead to brain damage and the problem with these things happening in the sport is down to people like Holyfield being allowed to continue or low level journeymen who have 15 consecutive KO losses being allowed to fight on as a pro.

Back in the day fighters fought 25 fights a year because they had to :deal financially the sport has evolved and keeps evolving , granted the sport was tougher back then , and on the whole i have to agree with you i think its a ****in stupid thing Khan has publicly stated , i think the kid needs to go and get a publisist because he's gonna start another hate campaign in the States almost the way he did in the UK with some of his recent statements ..........

That said i have to say i think the reasons your stating why Khans comments are wrong are inaccurate .........
