In the Daily Star, Amir Khan said he over trained for the Maidana fight, it could be that he is over doing the training and needs to have more fights instead of training. Maidana certainly looked fresher to me. Training can be very tiring.

Khan said: “I really think I over-trained for *Maidana. I didn’t have any snap and wasn’t as *explosive as normal and the reason was a long training camp.

“A 12-week training camp is a long time *especially when I only had 10lb to lose.”

At 24 i think 2 fights a year is not enough. He was very active as a novice he needs to fight at least 3 times a year

Especially as the Salita fight was over in the first round. Khan needs to get more rounds under his belt.

This was the only year where only fought twice and that was mainly due to the disruption of him moving to GBP.

Yeah, Khan works his ass off in the gym...

Maybe he's sometimes a bit too enthusiastic.

Khan talks too much and gives excuses for everything.

You won and were lucky to win now STFU and move on.

At his age he should not be having 2 fights a year, he needs to stay more active and have around 8-7 week camps, 12 week camp is too long.

He needs at least 3 fights a year.

Tbh i did wonder this when he first started camp with Manny. I think he did over do it but end of the day maybe all that work was what got him through the fight.

Hes said before how much he enjoys training so hes probably more inclined to have a longer camp than others. However, i dont think over training was the reason he had such a poor defense. Hes got a long way to go but hes got more than a bit of potential to be great

Roach put Khan in with Pac just 2 1/2 weeks into Khan's camp. Khan had to become sharp to fast inorder to match Pac in sparring, he should of started sparring when he got back to wild card.

I remember him saying on twitter, Roach telling me to take it easy, i need to peak at the right time not to early.

I think Khan must of peaked to early in this camp, he must learn from this and never do this again.

Yeah, how dare he give his opinions on the fight. :patsch

I swear, people here will jump on anything he says, even if it's something legit. Being a guy who's only 24 and is used to having 3 fights per year, Khan was sitting idle for 8 months before going on a long training that involved flying from one place to the other.
