Amir Khan is on course to defend his WBA light-welterweight title against mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana in England on December 11.

The hard-hitting Argentinian won a gruelling 12 rounder against DeMarcus Corley in Buenos Aires on Saturday and told Khan: 'You’re next.'

Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions who promote both fighters said: 'Maidana really wants the fight.

'He's been waiting for this fight and he gave us a number, financially, and we'll be talking and see what we can come up with to make everybody happy.'

Khan, 23, had wanted to fight Juan Manuel Marquez, but he opted to face Michael Katsidis instead, forcing the Bolton star to switch his attention to Maidana, who has knocked out 27 of his 29 victims.

He said: 'Maidana is made for me. He has very slow feet and very slow hands. The only thing he has on his side is power.'

Schaefer added: 'If Amir fights Maidana then I am sure that the fight would take place in Britain.'

Keeps his chin out of the way & he stops him around the 8th. If he fights as cautiously as he did against Kotelnik then he shuts him out, maybe a 12th round stoppage

Hopefully it happens. It will be a simple fight if Khan screws his head on. That's been the frustration, he has the beating of a wild big punching guy with shakey whiskers himself because of his handspeed and superior skills yet its seemed to take a long time since Maidana was mandatory for it to come about.

This is a whitewash. I'm sorry but Maidana doesn't deserve all the hype, he's a anti-sweet science mirage! a plodder who once he gets dressed down will become a Friday Night Fights poster child. If Ortiz invested in a jab we wouldn't even be having this discussion (to emphasize my point, can you believe only one jab was thrown in that fight?)

Amir may not exactly light it up in America like the 4th of July and we all know of his shortcomings. But I see him destroying Maidana even if this fight was staged and home cooked/crooked in Maidana's back yard...Khan would still beat Marcos in the Argentines protective confines of whatever country this tattoo'd skirt chooses to hunker down in.

Btw, I never make light of real diseases but Roach needs to up his take of Oxycontin timed release pills. He's been far to vocal and going out of his lane as the best trainer in the biz playing to many roles. Actually he's been doing it for a few years now, inbetween pimping Pacquiao, there was the amateurish saying of his that Hopkins was done by going to the wrong corner and then the Pavlik massacre happened.

Tbf though i was saying the same thing when he put that lil Filipino, who got ko'd early in his career twice, against a killer hook stalker at 147, LMAO! In hindsight thank God he did that and sent the Golden Girl packing with his tail between his legs.

Gaz, seeing as you're a man of vast experience...you have to give me some pointers...you notice I'm posting heavy? Well it's because the Mrs. Slip is away so the mouse will play! Since we had the little one, which was our first child...my better half has gone crazy, i thought all the baby magazines and talk, talk, talk, when she was pregnant was the worst it would be, but since she's had the baby, she's driving me nuts my maan, lol

She's giving me the disgruntled parent look when I slide out the door to go shoot some pool with the lads lol. I don't know whats up? At least she's away for a while which means i can dig into my boxing archives catalogue without the wifey screaming "but you've seen that before FFS,!" she just doesn't understand it when i'm waiting for the scorecards of a bout i've already seen 10 times, lol!

Oh and i better leave them porn sites alone as she probabily refreshes them web pages when i ain't around lol

Hold it there D-Mac, don't bust a nut just yet cuz it's not confirmed. When Richard Schaefer shows me the contract I'll believe it. Remember when Oscar told us about Pac/May? Then he said he lied about it. I'm still mad at him about that.

Khan would be mad not taking this fight, especially if he has seen the footage I just have. Unfortunately there only seems to be the 12th round of the Corley fight so its quite difficult to judge but in that round Maidana looked worse than awful, a poor mans Salita....flat footed, wild shots hitting air, no form whatsoever

Get the **** out of here with that ****.:nono

Such a thing as "a poor man's Salita" does not exist in boxing.

i like this fight, good to see a fighter defending against there mandatory.

maidana will always have a chance of landing on khan, and that ko record speaks for itself.

was getting a bit fed up with khan beating up smaller men, and marquez/katsidis will be much more entertaining than khan/marquez.
