So what's the prize for fighting your way through a tough tournament, just to meet up with Khan?

He's not a Mayweather or Pac level superstar.
He's already been beaten twice, spectacularly.
    He isn't regarded as a P4P fighter.
Despite his supposed great resume, he hasn't distinguished himself as a cut above the fighters in the tournament....

Wait, I get it! He's Lucian Bute! Mystery's solved everyone, nothing else to see here.

    Says who?

Does Pacquiao now have to fight his way back to the top??

    Of course not!

Assuming Khan beats Diaz,he'll have won 2 fights since his loss.

And also lets not overlook the fact that, even ignoring the controversial nature of Petersons win on the scorecards, HE HAS ON TEST!

    Its not a legit win

I'm not talking about before the Garcia loss, I'm talking afterwords where he gets a chance to become a unified champ without having to earn that shot when the other four 140 pound fighters are taking tough fights doing so and Khan gets two "gimmes"......and again it ain't like Khan is a big draw in America, Garcia headline in Brooklyn's Barclay Center was a bigger event/crowd than any that Khan headlined here in the States.

Amir is trying to Bute his way to claiming recognition as the best in his division without going through all the rigors that everyone else is.

At least Lucian was undefeated when he tried it, though.

Not the reason he lost the fight??

Even with the PEDs, Khan arguably won that fight!

One can only assume that not being on PEDs would have decreased his performance. A 2% decrease in performance would have seen Khan win on the cards!

You'd swear Peterson won the fight coasting! He won the darn fight because Khan had points deducted!

Like I said, Khan will have fought and won 2 fights by the time this comes around.

Hes gotten back into the groove. Hes still a money fighter, especially in this division. Thats just the way it is.

YOu are right he didn't lose the fight because Peterson was on drugs, he lost because of the Home cooking, guy in yellow hat, referee taking 2 points off of Khan! + PEDS

Hasn't khan admitted his defence sucked
Hasn't khan tried to rematch Peterson only for peds
Hasn't khan tried to get the rematch for Garcia but now has to wait.

If he wins against Diaz who everyone is underestimating, Khan will need to box someone else to allow this mini tourney to conclude. We don't even know who those will be.

Khan himself will be feeling this too as his payday must surely be reduced not being a belt holder

Khan can come across poorly at times but the hate he gets is so over the top, and they cling on to the smallest things, then twist and warp them to justify the hate.

But dude, that's pretty easy to do when you're assisted by three other world title fights; including one with a local Brooklyn boy, Paulie Malignaggi, and the others with Devon Alexander and Peter Quillen. That card was a great card. It's also worth mentioning that the viewing figures for that on Showtime were only slightly better than what Khan got on his own against Molina. Yes, that's right, Carlos Molina  (not Mexican legend, like Erik Morales).

    As for...

But it's not like Khan has popped up out of nowhere to get these opportunities. He was considered the number one guy of the division only two fights ago. He earned his way -- Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Judah, Maidana -- to get there. When you lose one or two fights, you don't automatically have your achievements/reputation completely erased to the point where you have to start from the bottom again. Plenty of fighters in the past, in similar situations to Khan, have been allowed shorter routes back to the top because of the hard work they put in earlier on. Khan's not the first to benefit from this, and he won't be the last. That's how boxing works. So it's kinda' unfair to single out him only for it. I mean, to put it into perspective, more people are complaining about him then they are of PEDerson -- a known cheat! -- being afforded to not only keep the world title he unfairly took from Khan, but to sign up with a major promotional outfit to jump in there with a great chance to fight the number one guy, Garcia, before Khan can! But let's not concern ourselves with that. Let's instead go into a fit over Khan for wanting to rebuild and improve against lesser opponents while he waits for the winner to emerge from this unofficial tournament.

    How about three?

Khan made it close to the top and was knocked down before he truly reached the summit. At best, he's on tier with the two top guys in the tournament. At best.

No one is saying that he has to start over below them; just don't sit on the top perch as if you haven't been beaten and KOd multiple times.

He's been beaten three times since he reached near the top of 140? Which one was the third?

He's not. Which is why he's moved to a new trainer and is trying to improve his game. You're all acting as though he's just gonna' sit comfortably at home while everyone else dukes it out. He has his own fights, too, you know. Hence why he said "But I have to get past Molina first".
