Legendary UK Boxing Promoter, Frank Warren is impressed with how American fighter Bernard Hopkins keeps defying the age factor. Most boxers ride into retirement long before they hit the age 45. However Hopkins keeps fighting like retirement is nowhere in sight. Although Warren is impressed with Hopkins still fighting and not being retired, he is more impressed with how his fighter, Amir Khan recently outdrew Hopkins by putting more fans in the seats at a

In a recent article written by Frank Warren and published by the Sun UK, Warren discussed Hopkins and compared his recent numbers to Khan's recent numbers.

Warren wrote in his column: "Bernard Hopkins continues to defy the years, beating Enrique Ornelas on a landslide decision in Philadelphia despite nearing his 45th birthday."

Warren then went on to compare Hopkins and Khan, stating: "Hopkins fought in front of 6,500 fans, a figure that impressed boxing writers across the water. But compare that to the 10,000 people who crammed into the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena to see Amir Khan take on Dmitriy Salita in a show which was the highest-grossing event ever staged there."

Poor old Amir, can't get any support from the ******* English. I'm on my knees crying and whipping my own back while praying for forgiveness right now.

the 10,000 fans don't represent the overall support he gets. If there was a event held at the same place for people who hate amir khan, it would also be a sell-out.

I would have agreed earlier in Khans career. Especially after what frank did with Naz, hatton and calzaghe. But in all fairness, Frank has done quite well with Amir, Even now, he is reluctant to take Amir to the states but Amir has already shown his desire to go to the states and i think Frank will deliver again. He knows he has to, otherwise Amir would leave him which of course would be the worse outcome for Frank.

It still shows Amir's got enough fans in the UK to justify him staying here and having a few more fights in the UK. I don't understand why he's in such a rush to go to America, he'll start to alienate the fans he does have over here if he's not careful.

Nazeem - no way. Got him all the fights out there.

Hatton - not really. Got him Tszyu in Manchester at the optimum time.

Calzaghe - When Calzaghe was there for the fights, Warren landed them. Lacy in Manchester. Kessler in Cardiff for a huge money fight. He had a Hopkins fight all but signed in 2002 and then Hopkins ran. Johnson signed twice.

Warren has the tendency to leave it a little to late before exposing his fighters to world class fighters. It's the safer route but not the best for certain fighters.

Khan is Franks only big fighter left now, so hes gonna try and milk him until someone else goes big, ie kevin mitchell, james degale, so I dont think we'll see Khan in those big fights we all want to see so we can see If he's learnt to take a punch yet

But hopefully Im wrong and Frank gets him the big fights like Bradley, Campbell or Maidana

He's always said he wants to retire by the time he's about 28. So he wants the big fights from now on. If he fights Bradley at this stage of his career, just goes to show his ambition as a fighter. Theres not many fighters who would take such a risk at this stage.

People like you don't have clue about boxing. Firstly why would he 'learn' to take a punch? Wouldn't his priority be not getting hit? I don't get everybodys obsession with 'chins'. Chin is just one attribute, just like speed, power, stamina etc. But we don't hear people rant on about them when they're just as important.

Again, people say this, but it isn't necessarily backed up by any evidence.

Naz is most definately not the example. Hatton, in hindsight, wasn't a bad job. Calzaghe should have faced higher class opposition earlier, but that was what Warren wanted him to do.

Where are the examples where Warren has held back fighters who would have benefitted from facing better opposition earlier, and who should they have fought when?

All I was getting at was that hes at a new weight so I was just wondering if his body will allow him to take a punch now he isnt drained, I couldnt give a **** about chins, Like you said Speed, Power an stamina are much more important in the sport, and if Khans defence keeps getting better like he has been doing then I dont see why he cant be great champion
