Guess you kids don't remember Richard Dunn or the brilliant but dreadfully fragile Vernon Sollas. Charlie Magri was dreadfully gettable too.

Even a hard stare from brook would have hurt Khan.

I've never liked Khan. I felt he got some opportunities he didn't deserve after losing fights. His fight against Barrera and title shot v Kotelnic particularly annoyed me. He never rematched fighters who beat him and that irked me too.

However, when you look at his career as a whole, you have to give the man huge credit. I agree that he has the worst chin I've ever seen of a fighter at world level. Yet he boxed guys like Maidana, Canelo and Brook. He beat a prime Maidana. That's unbelievable considering the fragile chin he carries.

Despite rubbishing the Khan/Brook fight before it happened, Hearn was correct in giving Khan huge praise post fight. He was rocked to his boots from round one and several times thereafter, but he swung punches from the first second til he was stopped and that deserves huge credit at that point of his career when it was easy to give up and take the payday.

In six rounds he couldn't put the worst version of Khan down, when you combine that with the thread title, a ridiculous thread title by the way, it tells you how bad the fight was.

This post talks alot of sense , yes people don't understand to counter that weak chin of his he had to be extra fit , be in the best condition possible .. under Roach and Ariza Khan was a different animal specially at 140lbs .. Brook in fact always been a weight division above the naturally bigger guy .. shame Brook most of his career chasing a smaller guy who had a weak chin .. but still I believe in Khan's early 147 fights he was in great condition vs Collazo and Alexander that version of Khan schools stiff up right back Brook who would of had all sorts of problems with Khans handspeed and leg speed from range ..

Why not fight him then? Why did we need to hear every excuse imaginable followed by making the fight only when it looked like brook was finished with every stipulation stacked in his favour if he would have schooled him.

Why waste time fighting...diaz, molina, paul mclosky. The vargas and le greco etc. When a massive big money fight was waiting on him...one that he would have scholed the opponent easily enough. I think saturday went a long way to explaining khans actions for years. Pretty much every excuse imaginable.

In his last 7 fights (including Khan) Alexander won once.

He lied for nearly 2 decades about schooling him in sparring.
"If he beats Matthew Hatton I'll fight him".
"If he wins a World title I'll fight him".
If Kell hadn't have looked so bad v Crawford he would never have fought him.

The thread starter was out to rile things up, but if you go world level Brits, Khan has to be up there at least.
Of course Enzo 'on his back' Mac will have his say for first place, if you don’t count the likes of Audley and Price for never winning a major belt.
But Khan made up for it by mobility, conditioning and speed. While I'm in the camp from him not really beating but merely surviving Maidana, with some blatant help from Joe Cortez, it was impressive for someone with that chin to even go past 6. Let alone go 12 and getting the nod.
Joking aside, Khan was always entertaining and a warrior. His demeanor and delusion outside of the ring, made him a target though.

Nigel Benn was shaken up a lot but he somehow always came firing back. Never laid out though. Strange one Nigel. Legs would buckle, but as soon as his back touched the ropes as he teetered across the ring he’d be recovered and firing bombs instantly.

    Never be a N.Benn again

Enzo didn't have a great chin but a jab from a heavyweight would put Khan in a coma. You simply can't compare it. Harrison started too late and was a money fighter delayed by the BBC contract etc and Price was derailed by drug cheats.

Just thought of another fighter. David Price? Obviously heavyweight boxing is a bit different but he's been knocked out a few times.
