Isn't it true that Muslims pay something each year called "Zakat" where they donate 2.5% of their yearly earnings to other needy Muslims? Sounds to me like he's just following his religion..

Yeah, I can see how an 8 year old boy who has had his home and family members washed away in floods, is a serious threat to us all. **** Amir for trying to help him and others alike.

Yeah, I think he's donating that little bit extra, though.

Also, it's not 2.5% of a person's yearly earnings, it's 2.5% of his wealth. And, Amir - being far wealthier than the average Joe - is actually required to give more than the standard 2.5%.

There are starving kids every where! why help Pakistan?
I aint "anti-paki" either I can assure you of that.
I don't think our country is innocent either and we bring terrorism on ourselves with our actions, however, I am still uncomfortable with him trying to make us feel guilty about the situation. How you going to ensure the cash hits these kids anyway in a corrupt regime?

Settle down, noone's making you feel guilty. And in regards to making sure your donations go directly to the people, you do this yourself. You don't have to go through the goverment. There are numerous community leaders who have set up their own logistics, and deliver donations face to face.

On the actual point of the thread, if any person has an ounce of humanity in their body, Pakistani, German, Brazilian or whatever, they would see this gesture as completely positive and I for one, think it's good for the soul to donate a little to help those less fortunate, after all, I wouldn't like to be without a home or food, and if I was, I'd like to think there was someone who would help me get back on my feet. All the best for Saturday/Sunday, Amir!

Why Pakistan? Because Amir is born to Pakistani parents. Khans not a bad kid, and this is a good thing...but "why Pakistan?" is obvious!

And I'm sure he's giving only a small part of his wealth and purse for this fight dont be fooled - he's not giving it all away. Lennox Lewis once gave one million away...to a college! He was a hero...but you know that meant he paid 1million less in taxes also. Charitable givings are always good...but sometimes rich people do it because its better to give it to a needy cause than the taxman. So they're not always as pious as you think.

One thing I did never understand with Pakistani muslims in britan is that many of them have their own businesses and many of those are shops...which sell alcohol. Which oddly Islam forbids. I used to work with some muslim fanatic and he could never answer this question when it was posed to him...he had a shop he and his family run as well as a day job (this isnt common either) but whilst he was always being holier than tho he was a bit embarrassd at his hypocrisy when it was brought to his attention. But I guess in his case thats because his no.1 god was money.

I'm sure Khan though isnt so hypocritical. I like Khan from what i've seen of him in interviews and watching his fights. He comes across as a good kid with a good heart.

Nice move Amir. Dont know how a gesture like this manages to attract hate.
