Amir Khan -V- Junior Witter : Homecoming Domestic Bout

There has been talk in the past of Khan fighting Hatton in a big domestic fight, Thats now never going to happen because of Hattons numerous problems. So I wondered why the idea of a domestic fight between Khan and Junior Witter has not been touted?

I know when Kotelnik delayed the fight with Khan over a toothache his camp approached Witter for his WBC title which he later lost to Bradley/Alexander.
Witter claimed that the timing wasnt right, I will give him the benefit of the doubt there.

But lets say IF, And that is a massive, IF Khan can get past Maidana, He said he wants a homecoming fight in the UK, So Khan -V- Witter as a homecoming fight call it "Battle of Britian" and promote it well and I think it could possibly fill a stadium or even in the LG Arena, Birmingham where Frank warren had his Magnifcient 7 card and that city has a big Asian community that will be out in force for Khan.

So my question here is, Is Khan -V- Witter a feasible fight domestically in the UK, Do you think it will sell? Do you think Witter will turn down a massive pay day?

 

Yeah Khan wants international recognition, But neither Bradley, Nor Alexander nor any of the top 10 guys will want to come to the UK to fight Khan.

I remember Kevin Cunningham who is Alexanders trainer said they wont fight outside the US, They came to the UK to win a world title, No way will they come here to defend it or try to unify.

Khan will always get the UD anywhere in the UK, Thats why none of the other champions will fight him here. Kotelnik only came to the UK because he won the title here against Rees and was paid £3-4 million to come fight Khan in the UK, No way will HBO pay the kind of money Warren paid to get the fight.

 

None of the top JWW will come to the UK to fight Khan. Its a fact.

Paul McCloskey and John Murray havent done anything to warrant a Khan fight

 

I dont know the purse bigs, But I know Kotelnik was paid handsomely for coming to fight Khan in the UK.

So you dont see his next fight being in the UK? I dont either because none of the top guys will want to come to the UK when they can fight in the US for more money.

 

Yeah the unification fights, But I mean David Haye who is partly promoted by GBP fought John Ruiz in Manchester , SO I think GBP can make fights in the UK. Just they prefer not to and its for less money.
