Cervantes was old school . He had two long reigns as champ at 140, interrupted by Wilfred Benitez . He was good enough to beat Esteban DeJesus convincingly. Cervantes competed sucessfully at a high level for a long period of time.During his relativly short career, Khan hasn't had the chance to prove he can compete at that same level. Based on what Khan has shown so far compared to prime Cervantes, Amir would get smacked around pretty good.
He turned pro after 3 amateur fights, losing two of them. He lost his first title fight to Nicolino Locche but won his second against Alfonso ''Peppermint'' Frazier. Defended it seven times before losing to a 17 year-old Wilfredo Benitez. Won it back a year later and defended it six times before losing to Aaron Pryor. He beat some very good opponents and was VERY good. He finished with a record of 91-12-3. I could have easily looked him up, watched a few clips somewhere and come back to you, but I rather be honest than look like a big headed idiot who think's he knows everything about Boxing :good
Thanks man, appreciate it :good. And to Xplosive, I thought he was possibly of the younger generation. I'd like to see how many others knew this guy.
So? He wants to learn about him and can admit he doesnt know him. Not everybody who has started following boxing in the last few years studies guys from the past. Get over it.
