Jossesito Lopez wanted the fight at 147lbs was not willing to come down to 140, so Khan is fighting Theophane.
It wouldn't surprise me all that much, to be honest. Theophane has fought in America before and only just lost to Garcia.... there's the angle for the rematch there ''I did a better job than him... shut people up you know what I mean innit''. The fact that Theophane barely got by Ben Murphy and lost to Hamilton won't matter. Not a fan of Theophane, tried to fight the weakest possible opponents to get a Lonsdale for keeps, openly saying that he wouldn't fight certain opponents - Woodhouse being one, Gavin another.
Hope this isn't true. But with that said, Khan's people don't know how lucky they are if Lopez refused the fight.
2 of Theophanes defences were replacements. The other was a former European champion. If he was after easy fights why did he fight Corley, Garcia and Rodriguez ? I think he was as fed up with his British title opponents as we were. He was also aware that he could not own the belt outright without fighting a number One contender. I hope the Khan fight is legit, but he has not mentioned it anywhere.
