Andre Ward: I mean, obviously, I dont have a problem with it, and thats a big reason why they were able to get that done and Im sure, I know I wasnt there, but Im sure that came up in their discussions, whatever they talked about and I could be wrong but some of what Amir is saying is, he and Pacquiao trained during the same time, a lot. They would be in the gym together, they run together and I dont necessarily know, of course Im going to be spending time with Amir and different things like that but I dont think thats going to be our situation like hes fighting in November/December and I just think its going to be different. Hes going to have Virg when he has him, and when its my time to do my work Im going to have him when I have him and thats kinda it. I dont think theres going to be a problem and if I think if there was going to be a problem, they would have addressed that before they made a pact to do work together so I dont foresee any problems and I hope it works out because I think Amir Khan is a good fit for Virg and Virg is a good fit for Amir because Virg is great with tall fighters and giving them a concept of defence and not only a defence, but the best defence for that fighter and Amir is already a dynamite fighter offensively and I just think the defensive improvements are going to help him a whole lot.
Prince, i got a question for you, you've expressed disdain for khan in previous threads, and in you're own words called him 1-dimensional and egotistical i'm just curious as to why you keep posting updates about him.
That's the key to his career, IMO. Whether he decides to listen to instruction or follow his own path. It is very common for young guys to want to go their own way in life. I know I did. The key to success is learning from your setbacks and realizing you don't know everything.
Good question. Yes I have said that in many threads. Khan is a flawed fighter who has done very well (2 time world champ) considering his suspect chin and lack of boxing i.q etc. The thing I got frusrated with was he was given a opportunity of a lifetime (Ring Mag Belt-WBC-WBA) but blew it. Not only that but arrogance crept back in after the Judah bout. I post updates as I think many boxing fans on esb (including haters) would like to know the haps. I'm not a hater... I'm just dissapointed. Fudamentally speaking he hasn't improved since 2010.
hey i think you're a genuinely good poster, and i enjoy the updates btw. If i come across as a hater i guess i'm a little frustrated for similar reasons, i think khan feels his speed alone can win him the fight, and also some of the nonsense he comes out with it deserves criticism.
Been reading the chapter on Virgil Hunter & Andre Ward on “A Fighter’s Heart” by Sam Sheridan. In it they mentioned Hunter’s style of fighting is rooted in Jack Johnson’s style, and that they call it “Texas Slip’ N Slide”. Anybody know more about this? It sounds really interesting. It also mentioned how meticiulous Hunter is and how he’s a technical master.
A guy who calls himself the Son of God = Andre Ward A guy who thinks he actually is god = Amir Khan Both have 26 wins but Andre's are against much better opposition and won more decisively.
So Ward is basically saying ,if their training schedules clash, Virg will be there for Ward and Ward only.
