OK listen, I apologize for losing my rag, it just seems that everywhere I go nowadays there's always someone on a forum ready to pounce, and I'm sat here thinking WTF is going on!!? I get really sick of all the arguing and bitching on this forum, you know? Yeah, no hard feelings. I just don't appreciate being treated like a twat this early on a Sunday morning!
Yeah you're right there is a lot bitching and arguing on here & I've found myself drawn into it lately. I think I might try & stay off the topic of Calzaghe/Hopkins for a few months because there really is little point going over old ground. Plenty of other things to discuss.:good Anyway, back on topic. So you really thought st Clair wasn't any cop then. It was a reasonably comfortable night for Amir but he was taken the full 12 rounds & St Clair was pretty game through out.
Hold on a Second the Kids good but he aint Juan Diaz good! Juan Diaz is a fully established fighter with a world title , Khan is a up n coming fighter with the commonwealth title, khan if he did fight Juan Diaz this year would be a total missmatch let the amir khan work his way up to the deep end before throwing him in there! he would last 4 rounds until diaz would jus lay into him throwing dangerous hooks to the body n face while also staying up close to the body! amir Khan might have a chance with Cameron Diaz but not with Juan diaz!
Yeah, I thought St Clair was rubbish. OK, he has a pretty decent defence, but he's just way too small and I felt he was never in a million years gonna be a threat to Khan. With Amir Khan, I just really don't want to see Warren screw up another potentially great fighter's career. Amir has skills, but putting him in with a has-been like St Clair stinks of cherry picking yet again. I think Earl was picked because someone somewhere knew he was finished before he even stepped in the ring. Did you hear him talk before the fight? He sounds like someone just fried his brain, the poor sod. He walks into the ring and he looks like Bambi, then the ignorant general public thinks Amir has some great win under his belt because he decked a mentally screwed fighter in 72 seconds. I think I could have done it just as fast and I'm a complete nobody. When is Warren gonna stop playing it safe? It's not good for Amir to be so protected, it'll cause more harm than good in the long run.
Oh I totally agree with regards Warren. The way he brings fighters along annoys me as well. He could have let Hatton off the leash way before he did. Some would call it clever match making others would call it fooling the public. I still think, however, for Khans age St Clair was a decent enough opponent & as long as he's not still fighting people like him a year down the line then I'll be happy enough. I would love to see him take a chance & jump in with Juan Diaz this year but somehow I don't see that happening.
Khan may have ticked all the boxes as far as your concerned, but I fear you have fallen for the hype just a little bit. I don't wish to sound pedantic, but Khan does not actually have any knockouts on his record at all. They have all been RSFs. Not one of his opponents failed to beat the count. His chin was not "really tested" against Limond. Looking very shaky against a non puncher does not count as passing any test. Earl was not a former world title challenger. If you are refering to the Katsidis fight, that was not for the title. St Clair was not a "prime" contender. He was a decent enough opponent, granted, but if he was a "prime contender", how comes virtualy nobody here had ever heard of him when the fight was announced? Amir Khan had a decent workout last night, and the experience will do him good, but let's not get carried away.
I don't see it either. Diaz would smash him to bits, but surely there are better match-ups for him than St Clair that will benefit Khan and give him the experience he needs at this point? Well, at least St Clair was a better choice than Kristjansen, I suppose.
I've heard about St. Clair before, and I knew it's gonna be a tricky fight as it was. For a guy at 20 and 21, these victories are great. You could downgrade ANY fighter's way to the top, some people can downgrade even HOF careers like DLH's. But these wins are very impressive for a young fighter like Amir. We shouldn't get carried away, I agree, but I've got convinced more with last nights fight that Khan is a terrific figher than with all of his previous fights togeather. And it's not easy to convince me cuz I saw some really good prospects failing to do what they were supposed to do. Khan needed a 12 round experience and a decent fighter against he can show that he doesn't have focusing problem like Zab. So let's put it this way: the better half of the world champions had easier way to the top than Khan.
No, no he didn't. Khan hit him with his jab a number of times. Also hit him with 5 or 6 great uppercuts, a number of solid left hooks and straight hands. There is no doubt that Khan landed more clean punch's. I can think of what....4 mabye 5 soild punch's that St. Clair landed the whole fight. The rest were partially blocked. :good
totally agree.....most of what khan does looks pretty world class to me.....its his chin that will be the problem...but for me that makes exciting fights in the future (and is no reason to hate him, which seems to be the case). his double /triple jab is an impressive shot quite similar to mayweathers. Once Kahn loses his speed advantage though, he won't look so good.
I think it's obvious what Khan needs in terms of his developement and that's offensively threatening opponents, which St.Clair clearly wasn't. Without facing and beating opponents who can crack and/or who can really pile on the pressure (in something of an educated way) i will absolutely NEVER consider him ready for someone like Juan Diaz. The obvious question here is how much risk will Warren be willing to take with Khan and unfortunately the most likely answer seems to be not so many which is a shame because not only is he fooling the public that way, he's also fooling his fighter by building up a level of false security.
Considering Calzaghe fought Manfredo only last year, your critisism of Khan's level of opposition to date is really hard to understand.
