Amir Khan vs Graham Earl Dec 8th

Khan needs to box off the backfoot intelligiently. If he doesnt he gets drawn into a fight and his going to get KO`ed. I have a nagging suspicion that his chin is a bit fragile.Buildwise his hardly a solid 135lb`der anyway. But speed for speed and talent for talent he does possess more tools than Earl.

 

Yes, he has talent, just not 'absurd' amounts of it like a Roy Jones Jr. had in terms of speed, timing and athleticism, which allowed him to avoid big shots nearly always. I'd also not even compare Amir's chin to Roy's, but that's the closest example.

So far -

- Bad off the backfoot

- Poor head movement

- Average timing

- 'Improving' footwork

Get the drift? I know you have, but still. He's not championship level and won't ever be in my opinion. They ought to have let him do another olympics for experience alone and then give it a shot, it would have also lessened some of this ridiculous hype, which is just a money train and not an attempt to really make a great fighter for Britain, which I don't respect.

Furthermore, he needs to stop hitting pedestrians. Second time in 13 months or so...

Maybe I was wrong about Warren's plans for Khan. Earl is legit fighter and fighting him on your 15th pro fight is a good sign for his future, assuming he can do the job. Think this must be because ITV want Khan to be a legit champ, not a WBU or the like paper champ fighting bums for 30 fights like the rest of Warrens stable. The TV money is a powerful thing and is forcing Warren to step it up. Sky were happy with Warren's endless bum of the month club, ITV evidently dont want that with Khan.

 

Well said, Earl is a hard fight at this stage, a decent step up in class. He is one of the best domestic lightweights and the only fight after this for Khan at domestic level can be Thaxton, before he goes Euro. Though he could also fight Kevin Mitchell at this stage, IMHO a harder fight than Thaxton who is overrated.

 

Ive never seen Earl fight, is he better than the [SIZE=-1]Willie Limond [/SIZE]who nearly had Khan out on his feet 2 fights ago?

 

Limmond is a more polished boxer than Earl.Earl has a more respectable dig. But that aside Earl is only a shade above Limmond in terms of class. There both good domestic calibre foes.I Like Khans attitude.But i am surprised at Frank for letting the bout happen.

 

I must admit that was in the back of my head too.. But hey lets try and be optimistic:yep

 

Big step up for Khan. This should be good,not many prospects would fight at this level this early.

 

Earl really isnt that good, but its definately a good step up for Khan.

 

This should be a very good test for Khan

 

This is not the test that Khan will fail. He IS improving.
