Let's say JMM loses a 116-112 decision to PBF in September and then says that he can no longer drop back down to 135 because of all the added weight... So they make the fight Amir Khan vs Juan Manuel Marquez at 140lbs in February 2010... Who wins? Discuss! :bbb
I think Khan can box his way to a decision win over Marquez. Marquez has yet to show his power is game-changing at light welter, and that's a big factor right there. With Khan's length and foot- and hand-speed he can box from a comfortable distance.
Eh, as much as I want to say Marquez, it would be Khan. Khan is big and strong and he is tailor made for fighters like Marquez. The Kotelnik fight pretty much proved that, and plus Marquez is getting up there in age.
Marquez outclasses him and Ko's him mid rounds. Marquez has dealt with faster, stronger, sturdier, and all around better fighters. He power was enough to KO Casamayor and Diaz, both proven to have good chins also hurt Pacquiao.
just got back from the MEN a lil while ago . Great night, too much energy.. not sleepy . But no, Amir would not win this, I'm sorry. I'm a Khan fan & have several shared connections with him.. however, from a purely analytical point of view: No -- right now, he is not on that level.. I'm sorry. He proved many doubters wrong tonight. Not even doubters... but HATERS, rather! However, there are still lingering doubts of how he would fare against someone who fires back, fires back often & fires back hard! At 135, Valero & Juan Diaz should be stayed away from for safety! Amongst some others. A fight vs. David Diaz, I'd happily welcome though . Hatton should happen before end of the year. Ricky has a comeback fight scheduled in late august 22nd i was told today by a boxer who fought on the card. One of Frank Warren's lol. Asked him when this news broke, he started laughing-- it hasn't yet! But it's set. No word on an opponent yet. Unlikely to be anyone big. Biggest I would imagine is someone like Katsidis ! Yes, a blown-up lightweight. but it IS a comeback fight end of the day. Back to this topic though... Marquez would win this... it would not be unlike Diaz-Marquez. Once Marquez gets his rhythm going & his timing down.. he would begin to take over the fight.. & sadly, Amir's chin does not come close to being able to hang in there with a Mexican great. Amir would go down, just like Juan Diaz, by the 10th latest... after a great fight.
That, too, is stupidity... as JMM always starts slow! nor is he a knockout artist... // 'big puncher' (1-hit straight outta the bag). The first 1-3 rounds would be similar to Khan-Barrera... and as it goes on, Marquez would get more and more into it as he gets his timing down & gets into his rhythm. Only way he gets knocked out inside first 2 or 3, is being ridiculously over-eager & making rookie mistakes vs. the best counter-puncher & pure-boxer out there! And after the Prescott shocker.. that's very unlikely to happen again, anytime soon...!
