This was the first response to this thread, it is the only response to this thread, it is the right response to this thread.
Only sensible post so far. JMM would be the favourite, and the most likely result at present ould be JMM by KO/TKO. But Kahn is certainly capable of winning a UD over 12 in this one.
C'mon Cuch, you are better than the knee-jerk reaction to a win on cuts over a years past-prime fighter who peaked at 122lbs. Talk sense.
I agree that Marquez is on a another level, but Kahn's management would be well served matching against aged, former featherweights. Due to his physical attributes, he has a better chance against them than against legit, young lightweights. That being said, I would strongly favor Marquez to beat Kahn. Don't let my playing devil's advocate fool you too much.
Wow! Finally a UK poster (I'm assuming you are Welsh given location tag) who "admits" something fishy :scaredas: And folks let's not get carried away. I think he would present a wayyyyy better challenge to JMM than some on here are predicting - but he's far and away the favourite to lose, even 6 months down the stretch.
this thread belongs in the lounge...this hasnt got anything do with boxing. Khan v Juan Diaz would be fun?
No, I'm not from the UK. Not Welsh, but a Calzaghe fan. No, I'm familiar with some of the attitudes in Northern England sometimes, so I was a little disappointed to hear Kahn booed in Manchester. Got no problem with Barerra being cheered, he's a legend. But it looked boorish to boo Khan. I'm not saying Khan would beat JMM, just that there are scenarios that would allow for it. Most likely result: JMM by KO.
Khan should rematch Prescott in say, June, and then fight Marquez later on in the year. Sounds good, but two things. This contractual dispute between Warren and ARENA means that Khan and Prescott won't be fighting. Convenient, though I think Khan would like the fight (and judging by Prescott's last fight, could beat him if smart, though I don't think he will, Prescott will remember he's bigger, stronger, and can just walk through Khan) Second thing is, Marquez will destroy him. Roach hasn't been able to beat Marquez convincingly with the World's best P4P fighter, how is he gonna' help Khan achieve it? Also, Marquez just knocked out two guys who had never been stopped before. I'm sure Khan will start off well but Marquez is still tough, nowhere near shot, and will smash him up. I for one hope he does. I hate Khan.
Oh, I'm not saying Kahn would beat JMM. Just that the dire predictions on this thread of his dreadful fate, seem to overstate the case. Khan is bigger, stronger, faster and younger than Marquez. His skill level is getting close to that of Marquez. He DOES have one huge handicap, his chin. But in time, I believe he can learn to adjust and compensate for that obvious weakness. I can see him going 12 rounds with JMM and edging out a decision. It's not a likely scenario, but it's possible. Not too many believed he would stop Barerra tonight. ( I realize the accidental cut was a factor, but watch the first two minutes. Barerra was getting stopped tonight, cut or no cut). That said, if he were to face JMM in June, my prediction would be JMM by KO (rds 6-8).
I don't think Khan is stronger than Marquez. Who took a lot of punches from Juan Diaz, who is not a hard puncher, but then I don't think Khan is a big banger, but eventually overpowered the younger, stronger man. Khan is nowhere near the skillset of Marquez! By getting sparked by Prescott, beating Oisin ***an and winning a decision over Barrera who was way past it, not shot in my opinion, but at a height/reach disadvantage and got a bad cut. Good win for Khan, but nothing to suggest he can beat Marquez, or is as skillful as a very good counter puncher with K.O power in both fists, one of the best uppercuts in the business, good boxing brain, can take a beating, CAN be dropped but has brilliant recupurative powers. Here's my predictions. Khan's speed takes over for the first round, in the second round Marquez attempts to establish his jab. Khan tries to stick the game plan and tries to re-establish his, Marquez sets a trap, chucks a right hand over the top which has Khan on ***** street, quick step in, right uppercut, Khan sleeps for a week.
Very possible. I don't see this fight happening anytime soon. JMM is still in hot pursuit of Pac. The future will become clearer after May 2.
Omg you guys cant be serious. Typical knee-jerk ESB reaction. JMM would KO Khan within 3 rounds. Jesus christ.
