Amir Khan vs Kell Brook

    Didn't want to start another thread on this but I can't find the older ones on this fight. Basically, my thoughts on this have changed significantly after last night.

    I always thought a fighter like Khan would prove difficult for Brook to deal with and I still do to a certain extent but I don't see that man being Khan anymore. He just can't seem to raid in and out like he used to at his best IMO & that's going to be key in someone beating Brook. I used to think Khan's quicker speed of hand and foot would be instrumental in flurrying and getting away before Kell could counter.

    Brook's footwork isn't particularly impressive IMO and he's benefited from facing predominately slow fighters so far who he's been able to control behind his jab and pick off with counters. I thought the speed Khan brings would offset and make him struggle.

    But Khan last night stayed in the pocket far too long and left himself open to Diaz's hooks. Kell's left hook isn't anything to write home about from what I've seen but his right hand is sharp and he'd have plenty of opportunity to land it. Plus I think his jab would be the more telling of the two because Khan's seems to have lost all its authority.

    So, to be honest last night has changed my mind on this fight and I'd make Brook favourite now. What does everyone else think?

    Lol, brook went life n death with carson jones, put him in with diaz aswell, would give us all a better idea. Once his "injury" is healed that is.

    Still think Khan stops him late
    Brook doesnt have the power to stop Khan, Khan will stop him on accumulation

    Before last night, I believed Khan would run rings around Brook. But after seeing Khan especially last night, and in recent fights. I reckon Brook would do a number on him now myself.

    Yeah I would lean towards kell beating him now but still not convinced by kell at all.

    Yeah i'd not like to see the Khan of last night take clean shots from Brook. I'd expect Khan to box better and be more sharper then last night but do feel Brook beats Khan.

    Peak Khan beats peak Brook, at the moment anyway. Brook doesn't have a **** chin though (so far as we know). Khan does. That could be the major difference. Brook would lure Khan into a scrap, catch with a hook and it's goodnight.

    One thing you can't deny is Brook is very strong. That Diaz last night to me looked like he just didn't have the physical strength. Had he been able to really push Khan back and rough him up then Amir would not have survived.

    Khan could outbox Kell easy if he fought disciplined and stuck to a game plan. He's shown though that he's incapable of doing that, at least not for an entire fight.

    Yet to see Brook in with anyone close to world level.

    Khan can be hurt but I don't think Brook can apply Diaz like pressure.

    Always thought Kell would win this fight & last night just makes me more confident in that pick

    I used to slightly favour Khan. I'd now strongly favour Brook.

    I'd still favour Khan (think a lot of it was just a bad performance and bad gameplan from Khan last night) but highly highly doubt Khan stops Brook... and of course, with Amirs punch resistance, you never know

    The benefit for Khan here is that Brook also likes to fight at range so this quickly develop into a battle of the jabs. Khan struggles most when opponents get past his jab, not necessarily on the inside but at that midrange where their hooks can't fall short and Khan is unable to counter effectively. He has to take a step or two back before returning fire.

    Khan/Brook would be fought at a range where Khan's handspeed and jab would really tell. But then it'd depend upon whether he can stick to a gameplan like that and not get tempted into rushing in once he finds himself landing frequently from range. He can get too excited can Amir.

    At 147 though Brook would have the size, strength and power advantage. I'd just edge towards Khan for now until Brook shows something new.
