12 rounds at 147. Two of the fastest welterweights I've seen. Personally, I've got Khan. Too much speed, too much heart. Did you guys see how he dropped Maidana? Some kid from Cuba aint taking that.
I fancy Gavilan as a top 10 WW ATG and a top 50 p4p ATG. Khan has very good speed but he's been beaten too many times in his career for me to favour him here, especially against someone with the timing and strength of Gavilan. Khan is very hard to outbox with his style but Peterson mauled him and he's nowhere near the level of Gavilan. Would Gavilan land the kind of sharp counter needed to end Khan? I'm not sure. But he would win this fight.
Khan, with his second-to-none ring IQ, brilliant defense, and unparalleled chin, would carry the day against the crude Cuban.
Now that Kid has been dead for 15 years, I feel comfortable picking Amir if they could both be placed in the same ring today.
Gavilan most definitely. Khan is/was a very good fighter but 'The Cuban Hawk' was one of the greatest 147 lb men of all time.
Are you sure he was joking? Are you sure? Are you actually positive? Are you indeed firm in your belief that he was, in fact, playing a gag? Are you sure?
We need to petition the mods for a sarcasm font like my 76ers and Eagles blogs, just to help out when we are to subtle lol
I think when the words Khan and ring IQ were used in the same sentence, it should have been a giveaway.
